Problems with xbox 360 gamertag

I changed my name on xbox 360 but my old name still shows up in the party and im having trouble connecting to other parties. Does anyone know whats going on and how to fix it?

Did you make a new xbox one gamertag, and all the games you played on the 360 were a different gamertag? If so I would think (IDK for SUre) that you would need to use the gamertag that you had for the 360.Click to expand...

NO. When you start playing an Xbox 360, bring up the Xbox 360 guide to sign in. If you don't see your profile click the Download Profile option. It will have you enter your email and password. Then you will be able to select your Gamertag to sign in. I didn't know it was that difficult?Click to expand... Not what your saying, I was having trouble following the OP's problem.

Xbox vs Xbox 360

I prefer the xbox 360 the only problem tho was they broke down quick. But like the original xbox you cant get achievements on them . And I love achievement hunting Had to create a new gamertag where I had to start all over again tho as totally forgot all my info for old gamertag

Hey! Is the name you're seeing here on Xbox.com your new gamertag?

If so, try the following steps on your Xbox 360:

•Sign out of your account on your console

•Clear your system cache 3 times

•Restart your console and sign back in

If you're still having the same problem after those steps, be sure to reply and let everyone know!

You also might want to try clearing your cache 3 times
support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache and then deleting your profile (Profile only)

support.xbox.com/.../delete-xbox-live-profile-from-xbox-360-console then redownload it

support.xbox.com/.../download-your-xbox-live-profile-to-another-360-console

Have you turned off and on again?

If you are still logged on from the name change it will not take effect until you do so.

The same thing happens when you change your avatar, people will see your old one until they log back on.

I have this problem. None of my friends are found on XBOX 360 or XBOX.com

I have verified the gamertags.

This is not my problem. My problem is the fact that my Xbox 360 says that a Gamertag is already taken, while the website shows that that gamertag is in fact NOT in use. And I am pretty sure this way you'll lose all your gamerscore from the main account,
since I believe the gamerscore is linked to the gamertag, unless changes whilst paid for.
