Problems with xbone dashboard.

is there any support for the Xbox one dashboard? I'm having some problems here trying to move around on the dashboard without having a game to load in automatically. it keeps loading up a game every time I click on a menu item on the dashboard. Is there
any way to stop it from doing this? Also how do I format my USB flash drive as a memory card to back up my game saves like I can on the 360?

can anyone confirm if friends list is working yet

It's been 24hrs and still no fix, wish I'd stuck with my 360. Didn't have any problems compared to the XBone. Parties rarely work, games saves lost, meaning I have to start from the beginning again, constantly getting returned to dashboard, controller syncing
problems after changing batteries. And the list goes on. Think I'll trade it in for a 360 again.

 

Why isn't ANYTHING working?

Now new problems are occurring. I can't play GTA online (Idk if it's R*s problem or Xbone) And everytime I try to launch DR3 it loads a sec then it send me right back to the dashboard!

 

1. You do not need to have a flash drive configured to back up your savegames, as all savegames are saved in the cloud and can be accesed from every console you log in with your account.

2. I do not really understand your problem here. Of course nearly all tiles/icons start an app or a game when clicking on it.If you want to just configure anything on that tile or the bounded app or game then please use the menu button for this. The menu
button is the one, which was the start button on the 360.The tiles and icons on your mainscreen change their positions in relation to your use of them. So there are always the last apps displayed you used. If just wanting to navigate around use the tiles
on the right. Any navigatoin can be done just by the sticks. If you click on anything, it will start the app or game except the tiles on the rigth of your mainscreen.The dashboard behavior on the one is definitively different then on the 360.

thanks Bob, I don't understand why every time I try to go to a menu item to look at different achievements for example or to go to friends or settings, minecraft game kept loading all the time. It was getting annoying .

so what you're saying is I can't use a separate memory card? I read somewhere this morning after I made this post, I think you can't use a USB flash drive as a memory card. I know you could on the 360 in original Xbox. Almost makes me believe that this
Xbox one is not even an Xbox console seriously when you can't even do the same things you could on the older Xboxes.

 

Hey regarding the issue you are experiencing. When the console is powered on press and hold the power button on the console for at least 5-8 seconds the light on the power supply should turn and remain orange after that wait 30 seconds and per up the console.

Rewarding the USB drive, type can use a USB flash drive for audio and video and you can use an external USB 3.0 had for games and apps, bit save games are stored on the console and in the cloud you can not save them to any USB device.

 

Ah, now I see what you meant. As soon as you use an app which is starting in snap mode the one starts the latest used full screen app or game. Yes, this is annoying sometimes. The good thing is, in same cases, like with the achievement app, you can interrupt
this behavior. If you take a look at the achievement app for example you may see a small icon on the right side of its tile indicating that the app will start snapped. If you now don't hit the app by pressing A but instead click it with the menu button, you
are able to choose "start in fullscreen mode". If once started in full screen mode the app will remind that until the app is snapped again.

The one supports USB 2.0 flash drives for using audio or video media, but not for storing savegames. If you really want to store savegames on an external drive you can connect an USB 3.0 drive to the one and transfer game data and save games to it. But not
in the meaning of having an backup. But as all save game data is stored in the cloud along with your profile, there is no need to have it backed up on an external drive.

In fact your are right as the One really is missing some features well known from the 360. Like for example having language and locale separated or playing music from your USB stick while playing a game. But, if you like, you may provide suggestions and

hey Bob so what you're saying is unsnapping the app or the game, basically am I correct? Ive unsnapped it but it seems no matter what I go to like I said, it still seems to boot up what was ever booted up but you're on the right track.. yes!! and
yes that's too bad that you can't use a USB flash drive as a memory card. Where do you find the Cloud Drive I can't find the cloud and all I see is app called onedrive with a cloud on it but none of my saved games are on it. boy everything has to be a seperate
app now, friends, achievements, settings, cloud, etcetc kinda reminds me of the PlayStation Vita. It was never like this before like on the Xbox 360 everything was right there in the main dashboard, instantly with just one click. Even the cloud was always
there and you could see it every time you wanted to save to it separately.

 

You can not see the "cloud" as it is not accessible. The games are automatically stored there with your profile and are synchronized with your local account automatically.

Nah I did not meant only unsnapping. I talking of this: go to the main screen, choose the achievement app by highlighting it. The press the menu button and choose "start in fullscreen" to have the app started. For example if you see the icon of the party
app, there is a small sign in the upper right corner indicating that this app will start snapped. Any app having this extra sign in its icon will start snapped. Unless you start out with the menu button in fullscreen.

 

hey dude, so that one drive with the cloud picture on it is not the same thing? I can delete that app then? As far as memory card save that's not what I mean, like for example with minecraft on the 360 you could be able to save your world to to multiple
of memory devices. so for example, you have a group people in your level playing a game that everybody invented, and the world gets destroyed, you have a way to go back to your undamaged world from the flash drive and invent a new game, specially when putting
so much work into your world. you can't do that on this Xbox one. which makes the Xbox 1 so inferior to the Xbox 360.it's like Microsoft is going backwards instead keeping things as it was. If it's not broken mess with it? in my opinion the Xbox 360 is so
much superior. So many options, better uncluttered dashboard, you are able to replace the hard drive, you don't have these random followers adding you to their friends list without your approval. you can have private chats without have to load up a stupid
app. They really *** up when they released the Xbox One!!

as far as that icon thing I don't see what you're talking about I know I can get it to load the game or "app" in full screen but I don't see the icon you're talking about.

 

I can now vouch for the fact that using an 2tb USB 3.0 external hard drive as a backup system on the Xbox 1, does NOT work as what everybody claims. It does not work as a external memory storage for backing up your game saves, and Minecraft worlds....etc
etc. All this is just like another replacement for the internal hard drive. in fact you can't use them both at the same time. you have to choose one or the other in the settings. which is kind of useless when you have a lot of games on either hard drive.
Which makes another fault against the Xbox one compared to the 360. .... it just keeps getting better .... Yeah right !!! sarcasm Xbox people ... what is the matter with you? why change something that was working fine the older console? You're making things
worse!!!

 

Sri to say, but the external drive was NEVER meant to work as backup drive. Also noone claimed that ever. I said that clearly in one of my above posts.

Just one last question, do you still have any service or support related issues you want to be supported with or are you just wanting to complain over and over again? If so, then maybe better move over to general discussions instead of posting in the support
forums as we try to help other users here.

 

hey Bob, no I know what you said regarding the memory save issue, I responded to that in the next post, trying to tell you, that's a new game file to the cloud on the Xbox 1 was not the same thing as saving game file to a cloud on the Xbox 360. At least
for me it wasn't. But you never responded back so I figured that I was incorrect. and that the cloud work the same way.also it wasn't just you that told me about the external hard drive.so I wasn't claiming that you were the only person that quote unquote
claimed it.

and yes going back to the problem with the dashboard. You still haven't answered me about the icon I can't find the icon what you're talking about. And it still loads games and apps randomly. I was trying to use the storage yesterday looking at the contents
of the storage as soon as I view the contents of the storage, it booted up the game. Just like I was trying to explain it keeps booting up things everytime I try to do something completely different.

 

Well then let me try to explain the icon thingie again. If you look at certain icons/tiles you may notice that some of them have little extra signs in their right upper corner. Some for example have that corner colored white with a star in it, indicating
that they already contain updates. Some of them, like the party app, contains a different sign in that corner, where the corner is not colored white. That's the sign for that this app runs snapped. And as explained above a snapped app starts the last used
main/fullscreen app or game.

 

yes thanks I understand I see it. sorry about that I guess I missed that, those small rectangular icons top right of particular tiles means its opening with snap mode on. I got it I guess my eyes didn't see it at first sometimes I find a hard time to
see those 3 dots on the bottom of the screen also in some areas. I guess I'm losing my eyesight in my old age.
