Problems with the Xbox Wireless Headset Causing Lag

Wireless (expensive) Turtle Beach headsets very, very commonly cause every error along the Xbox LIVE test (except NAT) along with intermittant disconnections and lag. They are a major source of interference. The source is the receiver plugged into the USB
on the xbox that is the problem, not the headset itself.

Move the receiver as far as you can away from the xbox. X31's have around a 10 ft. cord on them. OR, plug the USB into something else as the USB is only supplying power to the headset.

If that still doesn't fix the problems, build a metal shield (or igloo shape) to block the wireless signal coming from the receiver in the direction of the xbox out of aluminum foil. You can still use your headset, just don't have it intefere with the xboxes
wireless. In addition, any static, cracking or popping in your headsets is most likely wireless interference from the router/xbox connection that the headset is receiving. Since interference causes packet loss wirelessly, and packet loss can cause practically
any error, move the headset.

I use the original design, black wireless headset. I've been playing with the headset off the past few nights now and have not gotten any 3 second freezes yet. I really think there's a problem with the Xbox 360 and the wireless headset syncing together that's
causing this annoying problem.

Thanks for the update, ankerd. Yes, if you are using port forwarding you should disable UPnP. You can use one or the other but using both simultaneously can cause connection problems.



If you are encountering these disconnections primarily when playing Halo I would recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I'd be interested to know if that makes a difference.



In addition, to address the lag problem, do you currently use a wireless headset or any other wireless accessories? These can sometimes cause issues with your connection.
