My problems with the Xbox One

    Hello,

I don't normally post these types of messages. I find them often to be a waste of time and energy, but my most recent problem with my Xbox One compelled me to report my feedback on the console I've been using nearly every day for the past 19 months. I hope
what I have to say is taken to make the Xbox One a better platform, but unless significant changes are made, I'm no longer going to invest the significant amount of money I annually invest into the product. This is not something I want to do, as in many ways
I'm quite fond of my Xbox One and Xbox 360, but I'm constantly frustrated when I'm trying to relax and use this device.

My most recent problem started up after the newest update. While I was playing NHL 15, my controller would stop accepting input randomly while playing. Every few minutes as I'd try to make a pass, move my player into position to play defense or skate the
puck down the ice, controls would lock up and my player would skate right into a wall and I'd be completely out of the game for upwards of thirty seconds to a minute. This happened over and over again over the course of the game, until I gave up, shut down
the console and started writing this. This isn't the first time I've had this particular issue with the console, but I haven't seen it in many months, so I thought it was solved in a prior update.

That problem is just one in the many I've had with this console. Here's a rundown of some of the other issues I've had:

    - I use one Kinect voice command regularly. "Xbox record that." In my experience, it works on my first attempt <10% of the time, the second attempt ~75% of the time and usually by the third time it works. It's a really cool feature and I love the ability
to record my favorite moments, but I'm often pulled away from my game when I attempt to record these moments while I foolishly yell "X BOX RE CORD THAT" for the third time.

    - The alternatives to yelling the three magic words at my console for the third time aren't often any better. The recent addition of double-tapping the guide button, then pressing X to record a clip is okay in a single player game, when pausing the action
is possible, but it's not a viable option when I'm in the middle of some multiplayer Battlefield chaos. The interface is slow on average and downright sluggish at times. When I want to record something longer, the steps involved in pulling up game DVR take
a virtual eternity. On more often an occasion than reasonable, traversing through these menus is terribly slow and unresponsive, causing me to try again after a few seconds of nothing happening, only to catch up as I try again start a disruptive loop of menus
    opening and closing.

    - I can't use my controller wirelessly without random disconnections. I've tried numerous controller and batteries, but the problem is the same with every time. I've tried everything in this list: Xbox One Wireless Controller Help | Fix Your Xbox One Controller.
The only option left is to send away a device I use everyday for however long it takes to get repaired. Until then, I'm resigned to hooking up via USB cables.

    - The micro-USB ports wear out quickly and slight movements cause disconnections. I've used numerous cables and they all don't connect solidly. Every time the cable shifts, the controller takes a moment to re-sync and I'm out of the action again.

    - Before my girlfriend moved in with me, we had a long distance relationship. Every night we would start up a party chat, talk, play games, watch Netflix and so on together. It's awesome that these features are a part of the package and they generally work
pretty well, but almost every day we would have some issues connecting to each other in party chat. Sometimes we wouldn't be able to connect. Other times we'd connect, but wouldn't be able to hear each other. Sometimes, closing the party and starting a new
one would solve the problem, but often times we'd have to do a dance to turning off and on our respective consoles until we could finally connect and hear one another. We both had an open NAT and we would always eventually get to our chat, but rarely without
    some number of issues.

    - Every time I use Netflix after booting up the console, the first video I choose doesn't load up. I'll close the app, start it up again and it will work on the second go. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the Netflix app, the OS or a mixture of both,
but it's another problem to add to the list.

    - Games frequently get stuck loading.

    - It feels like the polling rate on the controller varies at times. Similar to the issues I've already remarked about, it's often noticeable that subtle inputs, especially with the sticks, go unnoticed by the games as I'm playing. Once again, this could
come down to a problem with the game or the OS or a mixture of both.

I could go on, but I think I've made my point. I'm a computer programmer and I work in the game industry/online service space. I understand a lot of the problems that the developers must face better than most. I've tried to be understanding and patient with
the issues that have affected my experience. Some have gone and others have come and my experience with the console remains an unstable one.

I've played games all my life and have been an Xbox user since the original Xbox was released. I've bought numerous Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One consoles and many years of Xbox Live subscriptions to go with them. I've dealt with various hardware and software
failures. I've dealt with all of the bad, cause the good usually outweighs it, but I've had just about enough.

All I'm asking for is a genuine response on why I should continue to invest in this platform. Not some pre-written text that I see splattered all over these forums or links to the FAQs or support pages I've already looked at and not the empty, scripted statements
I've received every time I've contacted help. I've continued to support Xbox, even as I've had more and more reasons to do my gaming and entertainment elsewhere.

    Thanks for your time,

    -Joe

  3. My problems with the Xbox One

    Hey there Il ANIMAL lI!

I am truly sorry to hear about the issues and I can definitely understand how frustrating that could be. If you haven't already, I recommend trying a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can help get these issues sorted. I understand that you may have
already tried some of these suggestions, but in order for us to narrow down the cause of the described issues we would need know specifically what you have already tried.

Let's start with the issues with your controller. Just to clarify, does the issue with the controller being unresponsive while playing NHL 15 only occur with that specific game? Or does the issue occur with multiple games/apps? If the issue only occurs with
NHL 15 I recommend always starting out with power cycling your Xbox One console. If the issue continues, I recommend uninstalling
    and reinstalling
NHL 15. If the issue occurs in multiple games and apps I recommend trying the following steps:

    • First, make sure that your controller has been updated by pressing the Menu button from the Home screen.
    • Select Settings and then select Devices and accessories.
    • Select your controller.
    • Scroll down to update and select update.
    • Once you have made sure that your controller has been updated, remove the batteries from your controller and replace them with fresh batteries if possible.
The steps listed above are also applicable to the controller disconnect issue as well. We are currently looking into the controller disconnect issue here. When
you get a chance, I recommend running through the additional steps that Miss Diggz has provided in that thread as well as filling out the linked survey. This survey is used to help the investigating teams look into this issue further. If you have already
tried the steps described above and are still experiencing issues with controller disconnects and with the controller being unresponsive, you may want have your controller replaced. Considering that you have also mentioned that your controller will experience
disconnects with a USB cable connected and issues staying connected to the USB port, a replacement might be the best option. You can request a replacement controller through our Online Service center.
If you run into any issues requesting a replacement, you can reach out to phone or chat support from our Contact Us page for further assistance.

The best place to start for the Kinect issues would on our troubleshoot issues with Kinect voice commands on Xbox One. From here, follow all of the listed
steps including calibrating the Kinect microphone, which can certainly help with issues with the Kinect not properly recognizing your voice.

There could be multiple reasons why games or apps may be experiencing issues with loading, but a good place to start troubleshooting these issue would be to try the following steps:

    • First, press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console has powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console.
    • Power on your console and try loading the affected game or app.
    • If the issue continues, try uninstalling and reinstalling the affected game or app.

Now, for the issues with Party Chat, I recommend both you and girlfriend try a few steps if you are unable to connect to a chat or are unable to hear each other in Party Chat:

    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console has powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Unplug the power cord to your router, modem or gateway.
    • Unplug your Chat Headset or Stereo Headset from your controller.
    • Wait 5 minutes and then plug in all of your devices.
    • Power on your console and try joining a party to see if the issue continues.
If the steps above do not solve the issue, you can also go through the steps listed on our Troubleshoot parties on Xbox One page for some additional helpful steps.

Once again I am sincerely sorry to hear about the issues and any inconveniences this may have caused. I understand that you may have already tried a decent amount of steps that I have listed above, but without knowing the specifics of each issue we can only
go by what is described. If you would like to continue troubleshooting the issues being experienced feel free to let us know and we will do our best to provide support. If you would to receive immediate support, you can reach out to phone or chat support for
assistance from the link that I have provided above. Thanks in advance!

    Xbox One Problems

After watching a few guides I fixed most of my problems including my WiFi. Pages now load and the dashboard is much smoother. Besides the loose parts in which I hope to get repaired soon I only have one more issue. This is that whenever I start up a game
a sync loading bar shows up and after a few minutes the message "We couldn't get your latest saved data" shows up. I've tried so many things but nothing works. Under that message it says try again (does same thing) or use offline. I've reset the console so
many times and I don't know what else to do. Any answers???

    Hey Haydenn,

Sounds like you have some corrupted data on your console. Trying doing a hard reset on the console

    1) Turn off console, unplug all the cords connected to the console, place your finger on the power button for 30 seconds, then plug everything in

Then do the same for your controller

    2) Take out the batteries for your controller, hold down the power button on the controller for 30 seconds, put batteries back in, try out controller

    Hope this helps
