    Problems with playing DVDs on Xbox One S


    I keep running into this problem, particularly with DVDs. The DVD is "Region 1" which includes the United States. I keep getting this error stating "Sorry, we can't play this disc. The disc is made for region 1 and this console is designed for region
    2 (0x91d70005).    " I live in the United States. Does this mean my console is an import?

    Here's what doesn't make sense, I played some Blu-rays which are in "Region A" or Region 1 in this case, and they played just fine without any issue. Particular I played the Lord of the Rings trilogy which is listed as "Region 1". So that means that I can
    play Region 1 Blu-rays, but not DVDs. Or particular, my DVDs are just not working. For the record, these are brand new in the box discs. Do you think there's an issue with the optical drive?

    Also, I can play both Blu-ray and DVD discs on my Playstation 4 without issue.

    Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Problem reading discs

    Exchanged the Xbox at shop I bought it from, it played one DVD so I thought great but no same problem when I tried another one yesterday and the DVD plays fine in the other Xbox, PS3 and DVD player at home and a Xbox s at someone else's home!! Needs sorting!

    Console is a one year old disc playing Xbox one S. Not having any issues playing regular DVDs.

    Hi,

    Sorry about your problem there. I take it that normal DVD's won't play now either? If the answer to that is yes, then I'm afraid your console's Optical drive has a fault.

    There are two lasers in the Xbox One. The red laser is for DVD's and Xbox 360 game discs (360 games are on DVD) and a Blue laser for Blu-ray discs (Xbox One games are on BD discs).

    Unfortunately Microsoft no longer repairs the original Xbox One. Only the Xbox One S and One X can still be repaired. You'll need a new console if you want to play BC games on disc.

    Xbox One DVD flicker and aspect ratio!!!!!

    I have the same problem with DVD playback, however, it's only on DVDs recorded on a toshiba DVD recorder. Bought DVDs play in the correct aspect ratio on Xbox one, but recorded DVDs play in 4:3. However, on every other DVD player, they play in widescreen.
    On Xbox 360 I can adjust the aspect ratio in settings. I cannot find how to do this on the Xbox one.

    Xbox one s does not allow 60Hz in advanced video settings but my TV supports it

    I want to use the Xbox One S as my DVD player, to play 4K Ultra HD HDR blu ray DVDs. I can do that now, however, these DVDs are playing back at 24Hz instead of the 60Hz that my TV supports. I don't want the TV to do any upscaling, I want the Xbox One S DVD player
    to play my DVDs at the highest quality. But because of a bug, Xbox One S does NOT allow me to play movies/dvds at 60Hz. How can I fix that given that all my TV settings are correct?
    Hmm. How do you know the Blu-Rays are playing in only 24hZ vs 60? Just because the box is checked (which allows native 24hZ content to pass through) doesn't mean that that is what is being used.

    As I mentioned yesterday, just because the Xbox One S can do the upscaling, optimal performance will be had by allowing your TV to do the heavy lifting if at all possible. Is there a reason this is not an option for your current setup?
