  1. Problems with frequently disconnecting controllers.

Hi, other posts about this seem to be locked/unhelpful so I'd just like to dump my issues here. Also, the reason this post is in Xbox One Console instead of accessories is because I have two controllers that frequently disconnect, leading me to believe it's
    a console issue.

I have a Day One console. Since I bought it on launch day, I have had disconnecting controller issues whereby the controller will momentarily lose connection to the console, sometimes reconnecting immediately and other times taking a few seconds to reconnect.
However it didn't bother me so much since I preferred using the play and charge kits (even with my Xbox 360) to keep the controllers wired to the console and prevent any connectivity issues.

Now slightly off-topic, the official Xbox play and charge kits suck, or at least the wires do. I've been through THREE of those wires and all of them broke because they are so flimsy. One of them lasted a year which I can forgive, but the other two barely lasted
two weeks and it was not through improper use that they broke seeing as I sit literally a meter away from my console, giving the cables more than enough space before they get pulled around. I also do not use the cables to lasso a nearby herd of cows Anyway,
I guess that's a different complaint for a different thread but my point is that connecting my controller via cable is now out of the question since I'm not wasting any more money buying flimsy cables.

So I've been using the controller wirelessly since 2014 and all throughout I have been putting up with this frequent disconnecting, as well as the controller just freezing up completely at times, requiring me to remove and replace the battery. I bought a second
controller hoping to bypass the issue but the exact same problems occur with the new controller, leading me to believe that it is the console that has the issue.

Like I said, I sit literally one meter away from the console with no obstructions whatsoever and the controllers will still disconnect. This happens regardless of the Kinect being connected to my Xbox One console. Also, sometimes I'll be watching YouTube, WWE
Network or a Blu-ray/DVD and the controller will (excuse the expression) spaz out like someone is mashing the trigger buttons and causing the video I'm watching to rapidly fast-forward, pause and rewind despite the controller sitting completely untouched.

My console is fully updated, I don't use the preview program and apart from the console crashing now and again, there doesn't seem to be any other problems with the console. My Xbox One console and controllers are out of warranty so I can't get them replaced
but I would like to know if these types of issues are common and can be remedied because even though I have a good amount of patience, this connectivity issue is starting to frustrate me to no end

I find it totally bizarre that I have these issues with a new generation console, yet my old Elite 360 model has zero controller issues, even remaining fully connected wirelessly at a good distance and with objects obstructing the controller from the console.

To me, it just seems that the wireless signal is just too weak to maintain the connection, but not being a tech guy, I don't know. Any help/insight would be really appreciated and apologies if I sounded a little hostile. I am grateful that you guys have to
sift through these long-winded posts to help us out.

    Craig

  2. Controllers Frequently Disconnecting

Hey everyone see if you have yet an update to your console, I'm unsure if someone watching here pushed me an update or what because I definitely already got the September update and I'm not in the preview program (But I reckon I should be) so it definitely
isn't the October update, but I received a 258mb update yesterday and it looks like it has solved my problem!

    Controllers Frequently Disconnecting

So...I went to Costco tonight. My intent was to exchange my XB1 for another in hopes of fixing my controller issue. FAT CHANCE as it turns out.

The Costco employee showed me his computer screen after I asked where all the XB1s went. He showed me that the entire SF Bay area did not have any except for a few returns.

    Why? You might ask???

He showed me the code that indicated THEY WERE ALL RETURNED TO MS FOR NOT SELLING FAST ENOUGH!!! He said the one pallet they had sat there for 3 months without selling out. In contrast, they're on their 3rd shipment of S4 consoles.

I bought a PS4 today after having an Xbox since before XB Live.

I'll keep the XB1 for a few more weeks in the hope that MS fixes the controller issue, but as soon as I hit submit on this posting, I'll be installing my new PS4 in the hole left by my XB1.

    Great job Microsoft...great job

    Problems with frequently disconnecting controllers.

    Hey there!

I did a hard reset (turning off console and unplugging it) on my Xbox One when I was having trouble with my controller not connecting to the Xbox as it should.

The hard reset did work for me, but it may not work for you in your case. The problem then maybe is the controller itself is mechanically flawed and has to be replaced.

I am having the same problem and Microsoft does not address the issue with due seriousness, the problem is not control or batteries, THE PROBLEM IS ON CONSOLE, it is frustrating to have to use the cable for me, as always used without cable, I User'm preview

  6. I have a similar issue but my controller will only disconnect once I've powered down the unit.

I have to do a full reset in order for my controller to recognized again, even when using the USB cable.

  7. Thanks Darkman but I have two controllers that have the same problems so I really don't think it's the controller. Also I hard reset my console pretty much every week so that doesn't solve the issue. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I just want Microsoft to admit if there is a fault with the console so I know. Either that or make a durable play and charge cable like the Xbox 360 kit.

    Hey there everyone,

I'm sorry to hear about the controller disconnecting issue. If you haven't already, I strongly recommend trying out the troubleshooting steps within our support article on what
to do if your Xbox One controller disconnects
. I would also recommend using your controller connected with a micro-USB cable to the Xbox One console in order to help with the controller's connectivity.

If you've gone through all of the troubleshooting steps listed within that support article and you continue to experience
the disconnecting issue after trying out two different controllers, we recommend setting your console up for a repair. To get started, navigate to our Online Service Center. If you
need additional assistance with setting up the console repair, give our phone support team a call by heading over to our Contact Us page.

If you're experiencing a different issue with your controller than what is described in this thread by the original poster, I would suggest creating a new thread detailing what you're experiencing. This way you'll have the opportunity to receive support
catered to you from our awesome community. Thanks in advance.
