Problems with downloading Gears of War

Hi all,

I have bought Gears of War 1, 2 and 3 during the Black Friday sale. I could download 2 without any problems, but 1 and 3 are giving me a headache.

Whenever I try to download these (1 and 3), they get to ~79%, then the counter jumps to 100%, and an error message is displayed "Cannot download Gears of War". No error code, nothing. On the other hand Gears of War 2 downloaded without any problems and works
fine.

Of course 1 and 3 are not in my game list, and on the storage they are marked as 'Corrupted', with a nice big, yellow exclamation mark.

I have checked the forums, chatted with support 4 times already, and did all the recommended steps (clear cache, reset console, delete corrupted file, remove disk etc.), but every time I try to download these 2 games, the same thing happens, goes until ~79%,
jumps to 100%, error message displayed, game marked as corrupt etc.

Gears Of War 4 (Windows 10 App) won't start after a few days (closes without error)

Hi guys!

I read about many people having problems with the download of Gears Of War 4, but that isn't an issue for me. What's happening is that my app won't start after a few days. The screen with the Gears 4 logo appears for 2 seconds and closes without any error
promt. I tried everything from resetting caches of the xbox and windows store apps + restarting services. My Windows 10 got the recent updates. The only solution, which i don't like very much, was downloading the whole package of ca. 120 GB again. It then
works for maybe a week and I'm in the same situation as mentioned above. I also own the Gears Of War Ultimate Edition, the remake of the first gears, which can be started without problems at any time. I'm running out of ideas! Downloading 120 GB every week
sucks pretty much. Please help!

If you're having problems downloading GoW3 content from the Dashboard Marketplace...

It's a region issue. Since your account region and your physical location do not match, you will have issues downloading region locked content. Why 1 of the games would not be region locked and the other 2 are, I'm not sure.

 

Yes gears of war is region locked oddly enough gears of war 2 is known to be region locked

It may sometimes goes thru anyways but its hit and miss as long as your region doesn't match

So what can I do? If I change the account to match my location (to Luxembourg), then I won't have live, as for some reason live is not available in Lux.

Also if this is a 'normal' problem, then why it downloads 6GB and then fail with a useless error message, instead of telling me at the very begining, that this will not work?

I doubt that I'm the only one who wants to use xbox from Luxembourg, so is there a solution to this?

If your ISP or you are using a VPN or queueing from the website then you bypass the region error but don't really solve your problem

 

Your only option is to run over to France which isn't that far and download from there

 

So you are saying, that if I download the stuff in France, the game will work in Lux, and I will be able to play it even on live?

If that is the case, do i have to take the console to France, or I can just take the disk out, put it into my friends xbox in France, login on his console with my account, download the stuff on my disk, then bring the disk back to Lux, and all will work
fine?

You would need to take the entire console in order to have the licenses downloaded properly.

Is there a list of all so called 'region locked' games? So I would know which one will cause trouble...

There's no list, but most of the major titles (Gears of War, Halo, Call of Duty, etc.) are region locked.

 

Basically anything triple a title worthy or has violence and m rated topics like religion sex torture etc etct

 

so all the good stuff....
