    Why is it if the disc drive malfunctions that your account gets banned for life?

    Hi there,

    could you try to move the save games of the profile with problems to a other device (usb flash drive) and try Gears or War 2 with that profile without the usb flash drive connected, to determine if the save games for that profile might be causing the problem

    As for the DLC, I don't think that would be causing the disc read error. Was the disc brand new, or used?

    This can also be caused with disc problems try and install the disc to your hard drive.

    Running games in the Optical Drive, would actually cool the console down a bit... As the disc is spinning at high speed & causing turbulence in the ambient air... The life span of the drive would drop though...

    You can use a fan to cool the Rooms ambient temperature down, with no problems to the running of the console... Just be aware, that you could blow dust inside the console, if the fan is directly facing the console & it could cause heat problems in the future

    You've already answered your own question...

    Installed = some textures problems but little to no wear and tear on your disc drive.

    Not installed = no texture problems, but will cause wear and tear on your disc drive.

    It's up to you what is more important, but I personally installed it. I'll take minor texture problems (which will eventually be fixed) over adding unneeded strain on my disc drive any day of the week.
