Problems watching/casting videos from mobile device

I have a Galaxy S5 that I use to cast videos to an Xbox One; however, lately I have been having big time problems. I have recently found that I haven't been able to cast a few mp4 videos from my phone. I thought it might just be that the Xbox doesn't support
mp4(I was able to play my recorded video), but I don't think this is the case. When I try to cast the video, I select the Xbox as the device I wish to play to and the video pauses for a moment and then continues to play on the phone only.
I have also found that all of a sudden I can't cast youtube anymore either. I don't even have the option as the cast button doesn't even appear. This is extremely frustrating as I have no leads.
I am signed in to my google account on both devices, the youtube app is updated, I have restarted all devices as well as the router, etc.
Does anyone have any ideas before this drives me completely crazy?

Casting Video From PC to XBOX One - Using Data

I have a question about casting video from my PC to XBOX One. I need to know if I am using data, as my internet usage has a monthly cap. The PC and XBO are both on the same wifi device and router. I wanted to test this, so tonight I unplugged the internet from the router and tried to cast. I got an error on the XBO that would not let me cast the video. As soon as I reconnected the internet cable to the router, casting was no problem. Does this confirm that casting video is indeed using my data against my cap?

Hello, I still have not recieved the figurehead after watching the stream via mobile device.

 

I noticed the same thing last night -- the little streaming (cast) icon is missing on my iPhone 5 for Netflix and YouTube. Same for everyone else's devices in the family. I think Xbox's firmware updated over the weekend, and when I reached out to Xbox's
support team on Twitter last night, they said my apps may need to update in order to catch up.

Whew! Yours is the first post I've encountered ANYWHERE describing this issue.

 

PS - I'm going to tweet them again and point out it's not just an iPhone issue.

 

Ya, and I definitely have updated youtube. I just have no answers, there one day, gone the next.

 

I'm having this issue. I'm talking on chat right and the representative seems to have no idea what the problem is.

 

I was told to delete and reinstall youtube, delete and re add my profile, and to do a soft reset. None of those helped at all.

 

Meanwhile, Microsoft says it's an app problem. Netflix says it's a Microsoft problem. *sigh*

 

I installed the local cast app and I still can't watch any videos other than the one I recorded on the phone.

 

I also have the gmote app that allows my phone to control my pc using the same network. Now this app will no longer work, it can't find my network. This must have something to do with the connection between my phone and my network. I don't know what the
issue might be, my phone is connected to my wifi.

 

After trying to get help from microsoft and google, they both ended up blaming each other. So I don't think this is going to be fixed anytime soon -.-

Background I been a system admin for 14 years now so this kind of troubleshooting is a peace of cake.

This is what I did:

Factory reset my xbox one last week and lost all my apps and settings after that

I was able to use youtube cast button to watch videos on my Xbox one from my Note4 again.

I knew it was an Xbox one issue because I lost the capabilities from my other tablets as well.

Then my Xbox one did the updates and guess what Im back to square one. SO THIS ISSUE IS DUE TO MS UPDATES ON MY XBOX ONE.

I'm testing a few promising workarounds app like PlayTo Chromecast

Just after the Marsh update. Can we have this functionality back please!
