    problems redeeming xbox gold


    My gold was supposed to automatically renew but it stopped renewing a while ago for some reason, i didn't notice because i was playing fall out 4 so i didn't need gold. I got battle front on Christmas eve went to play it and noticed that it didn't renew.
    When i tried to buy gold with my debit visa it said "this payment option is used on as many accounts as it is allowed to be." which doesn't make any sense because it is only being used on the one account. so then i went and bought a 6 month gold card, when
    i entered the 25 digit code my xbox recognized that it was 6 month plus 1 bonus month card but when i hit confirm it said "something went wrong. give it another try" i have tried several times. i have no idea whats going on my xbox wont let me renew my gold.

    Wait so you get 2 free games every month even if you stop paying for Gold??

    Yeah, unless something has changed recently, you get to keep your Xbox 360 gold games.

    But the Xbox One gold games you need to have an active subscription.

    I don't know if anyone else already posted the solution to this, but a friend had the same issue with the same error. The problem was, he was trying to redeem a code over a trial gold. Live Gold and Gold Trial, doesn't mix up, that's why the solution is
    to let the gold subsciption end and then redeem the code. So if you have a Live Gold and try to redeem a Trial code (like the one included with the xbox) or the other way around, it won't work.

    If you currently have Game Pass Ultimate and attempt to redeem a 12 month Xbox Live Gold code, it will convert to a 3 or 4 month Ultimate subscription. If you want to continue with just Gold for 12 months and not Ultimate, you would have to wait for the
    Ultimate to expire before redeeming the regular Gold code.

    If you don't currently have Ultimate, then you should have no problem redeeming the 12 months of Gold.

    Strange issues and bugs after changing account region

    Alright the solution posted in the thread I linked earlier WORKED!
    If you are experiencing these bugs it is because of the way MS moves over your Gold subscription and the instant you redeem a code for Xbox Live Gold the problems disappear.

    Here are the details of my Gold purchase:
    I bought a 12+1 month card and redeemed it on the Xbox Dashboard. Therefore I can not guarantee that redeeming on Xbox.com fixes it and neither can I guarantee that buying gold form the marketplace fixes it either.
