    Problems downloading last update

    Hello fewleh,

    Please directly connect your XBOX 360 to your modem using an Ethernet Cable. Once that's done, power cycle both the modem and XBOX 360.

    Follow the instructions below:

    First we're going to have you remove any sort of failed update.

    On your console, go to Settings hub, and then select System.

    Select Storage.

    On your controller, press the following button sequence:



    1. Press the left bumper.
    2. Press the right bumper.
    3. Press the X button.
    4. Press the left bumper.
    5. Press the right bumper.
    6. Press the X button.

    Please make sure that your hard drive is still removed for this and only your USB Flash Drive that you had previously is plugged in. Once this process is done, please verify that the USB Flash Drive is configured to have more than 2GB of space and try to
    test your connection to XBOX Live. It will prompt you for an update, select Yes, and see if this lets you now complete the update. If not, please list a status code or an error message that comes up.

    If you still get stuck at 5% downloading even when directly connected to the modem please try to manually download the update by following the instructions

    Problems downloading last update

    I have replaced all cables in an effort to rule that out.

    I made a new storage device with an 8gb USB stick... still the same message.

    Doing xbox live 'test connection', it works OK for the first two steps, then fails on the 'xbox live' aspect of the test with the same message (about not being available at this time)

    That fixed it. It also ate up an hour I was planning to use exercising. Thanks for your suggestion. I wonder why the update broke it in the first place.
