Problems getting my headset to work with headset adapter

I just purchased the xbox one headset adapter and am trying to get it to work with the headset I have. It is a plantronics gamescon 377 and has a mic and audio plug which I purchased a splitter Target : Expect More. Pay Less.
to combine the two and am just receiving audio and no mic . Is there a recommended solution for getting this headset to work for chat? I'm sure I probably did not purchase the right splitter for this.

Xbox One Stereo Headset/Adapter not loud enough? Help.

I just bought the official Xbox One stereo headset which comes with the headset adapter. Ive tried the headset, and also tried some beats solo 2 on the adapter which suprisingly work. I just want to enjoy some loud story gaming without waking up my roomates. The problem is, with either headset, the max volume just does not seem to be loud enough. Why wont the headset get louder? the max level is stiill sounding low, does anyone else feel this way about the adapter?

You could also try buying the headset adapter if you already have a nice 360 headset. The adapter works, but it may be hard getting used to at first. I use my 360 X41 wireless 360 headset and works great for me.

There is an issue with the adapter and MS need to update it . The game audio works but not chat.

We just need to sit tight and wait I'm afraid.

I did some calling around and went to radio shack who does sell a 3.5 mm mic and audio splitter for 5$ . Took it home and works perfect ,great sound and mic quality. Hopefully this helps someone that had the same issue I was .

Stereo Headset Adapter isn’t working

If your Stereo Headset Adapter isn’t functioning well, check the following:

Have you updated your controller’s software to support the Stereo Headset Adapter?

Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions like audio and rumble get turned off to conserve the remaining power.

Make sure your headset adapter is firmly plugged into your controller and that your stereo headset’s 3.5-mm cable is securely plugged into the headset adapter. You will know it’s plugged in properly if you press the mute button and the LED lights up.
If the mute light comes on and you have updated your controller but your headset isn’t working, consult the manual or manufacturer.

Try your Stereo Headset Adapter on another controller if you can. If the adapter works on the second controller, try updating the first controller again. If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the Xbox Online
Service Center.

Having actually tested the headsets out multiple times I've come to the conclusion that the problem is with the adapter. The cord that connects your headset to the adapter is the cord that is continuing to short out on me. I bought a new adapter today (my
3rd or 4th) and my headsets all work again. So i guess this is the cost of buying a headset that is not made specifically for the xbox one. you will have to replace your adapter regularly. At least I can stop throwing money out the window on headsets now.
Not that they are that much more expensive than the adapter anyways..
