Problem with xbox one games please help

Hello all

forst time poster hoping someone can help me. Basically a few months ago (at least 3 and a half) I bought an xbox one on gumtree. It was in pristine condition and came boxed with receipt etc. The console game with need for speed (on disc), titanfall, battlefield
4 and cod ghosts (all downloaded onto xbox)

now everything has worked fine for the past 3 months but last night and again this mornin wheb I checked before work, whenever I try to launch one of the downloaded games (cod battlefield titanfall) it pops up that I do no have the rights to the game and
to insert the disc, leaving these games unplayable.

does anyone know a reason for this or can advise me on what to do? do I have to buy the games again as I have been royally ***? If that is the case I think I will be selling the console and moving to ps4 (previously a 360 owner ehich I had heaps of issues
with and a ps3 owner ehich I had no issues with)

if someone knows a fix or can advise me all help very much appreciated

-edit- games I have purchased and downloaded since such as ryse and forza load fine it's just the initial games that were included when I bought the console

I'm having the same problem with nba2k15.this game is the reason I bought Xbox one. Can someone help with getting it o run again please.

 

Are you using the gamertag the seller gave you ?

Otherwise those digital games are assigned to their gamertag (I am not sure this is allowed in the ToS) and it could have timed out so to speak.

It's not really a Microsoft problem but more the seller.

You may well get some abuse for threatening to jump to ps4, just a heads up.

 

If you thought you could buy a console with digital downloaded games (not from disc,) that were downloaded by someone else, and then play them on your gamertag....well, that is where you went wrong. You can't do this with either console, unless you are playing
with the original account that downloaded those games. If someone sold you a console with the promise you could do this without a disc (and without original account) they misunderstood the rules or deliberately cheated you.

 

No one is going to abuse you for stating that you will jump to PS4. But no one will give a crap either. In fact, why don't you just go ahead and do that now.

 

The games on the console, are registered to the GT that was on there and to the home console I believe.

It sounds to me like the seller sold the console to you and bought another one, set that up and in the process has *** you over.

As above it's not MS fault, it's just the way the DMR for digital titles work. Same thing would happen on the PS4 if you were to do it that way.

My advice would be to try and find some cheap second hand copies of the games to start playing them again. (Don't hold me to this, but I am sure it'll work maybe someone else can chime in here)

 

The games are tied to the original owners Xbox live account. I am sorry but you will probably need to buy the games on your Xbox live account or buy the physical disks of the games. There isn't much you can do as the games were bought on the previous owners

On that note I hope they add digital game transfers, which would allow sales also

Many thanks for speedy replies greatly appreciated. Ahhh it seems I have been had on. But the thing that confuses me is that I have never used his gamertag. I created my own directly from the start and these games have all worked for the past 3+ months and
only stopped working last night. Surely if I was unable to play them on my gamertag I would not of even been able to download and install these games? (As there was nothing on hard drive when I got it) and wouldn't of been able to play them on my gamertag
for the past 3+ moths?

 

That's the advantage of digital his account registered that machine as his home xbox. Allowing you to play his digital downloads for free as another user.

Very handy if you have children and more than one xbox.

Looks like it either timed out or he may have bought another xbox and re-registered his new one as his home xbox.

Would check that your tag is set the same. You can get cheap digital downloads try cdkeys.com

 

There seems to be more and more of this, a well known website has consoles for sale with installed games. I feel for the players that fall for this, not everyone is as clued up as we are on the forum.

 

So does anyone know why the games worked on my gamertag for first 3+ months? Surely if the digital downloads are assigned to a gamertag (which would of been the ex owner) the why did they work on my newly created gamertag? And is the ONLY solution to re
buy the games? I'm not too fussed about cod and battlefield as I personally believe they are poor games but I did enjoy a game of titanfall now and again as a break from FIFA. Is my only option to re buy the game?

the games has set a new Home Console, thus invalidating the downloaded games on your console.

Again? You shouldn't have been paying for them as part of the console sale.

Is there a specific reason you think that will help? The PS4's DRM system for digital titles is similar.

The only "fix" is that
you educate yourself on digital download licenses. Digitally downloaded titles cannot be resold.

 

Yep, Basically sounds like the guy who sold it to you went out and bought a new X1, and is now playing the games he sold you.
