    Hi, everyone! I recently bought a new Xbox controller and a charging kit. They both work fine, but the controller keeps disconnecting suddenly, for no reason. I don’t know what the problem is, since both are brand new. I have an Xbox one, that I bought in 2013. Is anyone experiencing something similar? Can someone please help? Thanks in advance, really appreciate the help.

    Just to confirm, does the controller still disconnect with the cable as well? Does it disconnect randomly, or only at specific times in particular?

    What’s the exact model of the controller, and is this a third party one or a genuine one? If it’s an official Microsoft one, you can find the version number in the battery compartment.

    As far as troubleshooting, try the steps under ‘my controller keeps getting disconnected’ in this guide:

    first try to update the controller's firmware, if the problem persists, you need to know if the problem is in the controller or in the xbox, do you have other controllers? if so do they have a problem? if the other controllers work fine, the problem is with the controller, if other controllers have a problem, try the restore on xbox, and see if it works.

    Hi there,

    The controllers come with a standard controller battery cover (same as the other Xbox controllers). You can use either a rechargeable battery pack, or regular AA batteries. No different from other Xbox One controllers.
    Thanks its just i use a rechargable and designed mine with a coloured battery cover

    I had this problem before when my controller was dead I would plug it in and the green light would come on telling me the controller was charged and would run the controller but when I unpluged it, It would die. The problem was my battery pack was done.
    Went out and got a new one and it was fixed. If your xbox is running the controller while its plugged in then your xbox is working fine it's most likely your battery pack.
