    Problem with the key for GTA IV


    Ok, I don't know if I'm posting on the right place, and I'm sorry for any problems with my bad english.

    I bought GTA IV on Steam, and when I try play it the window "Games For Windows Live" ask me to connect. The key that Steam gave to me doesn't work here. So I searched, and found it that I need activate the Steam' Key on the Xbox Live. But it alway says "Something
    Went Wrong, Try Again Later...". So, I think in get contact the Microsoft/Xbox Support, but the only option avalible is post something in the Forum.

    So, I came here to ask if any of you guy that are reading this can help me find a solution for my problem with the key activation in the Microsoft/Xbox ( https://redeem.microsoft.com/enter?ref=xboxcom&mstoken= ).

    Grand Theft Auto IV (Steam) Problem

    I cannot sign in with my windows live profile to save my progress in GTA IV.Every time i tried to enter my cd key from steam, it said my cd key is invalid.

    So i browse in google and found some solution like this.

    1. Go to Xbox.com and sign in with your Microsoft Account
    2. Go to My Account
    3. Click Redeem Code
    4. Enter the code that Steam provided for GTA IV
    5. Once that is successful, launch Games for Windows Live application and go to downloads
    6. Select GTA IV and choose to view the key
    7. Enter that key in GTA IV
    I already redeem my code at xbox.com,but when i log in using Games For Windows Live i cannot see my games.It said " There was an error retrieving your purchase history.Please sign out and try again later. ".

    So my question is where i can see my cd key for GTA IV so i can use it for my windows live profile?

    Hey there Chalice! I'm not sure who pointed you in our direction, but my first thought here is you need to go to the source, and that would be Steam. They are the ones who provided you with the key, so any questions about why it's not working should go to

    Have you successfully redeemed the code here on Xbox.com for that game yet? If so then next open the GFWL client and click on the Downloads option. Select All Downloads and choose the appropriate game. From there you will be able to get the LIVE access code
    required when launching the game. Let us know if that helps. Thanks!
