Problem with the hash after the gamertag

Hello,

I have a problem with changing my gamertag because numbers with a hash appear and it's weird because nobody use it

To explain more :

I have a Xbox account created in 2010, let's name it A

I've created another account last year to play on PC with an other mail address, let's name it B.

I've chosen a name for B that I want now to use for A. To do so, i've changed the name for B, and so I've freed somehow the gamertag I want.

But what it's weird is:

If I want to choose the name I want for the account A, a hash and numbers appear and I don't want them.

If I want to choose the name for the account B (as I would like to go back to this name), no hash and numbers.

Can someone help me ?

First, welcome to the Xbox community. It's really strange since on account B the hashtag is not displayed, but I believe this may be due to the short amount of time you are trying to make the Gamertag switch.

Perhaps the Gamertag system still understands that your B account might have that name making it unique.

Today every Gamertag that is not a unique name has this #, basically, it is an ID to identify players with the same name.

- I suggest that you wait up to 72 hours to try to change the account name again, I believe it could be a BUG, considering your report. In some cases, it is necessary to wait this time for the system to release that unique Gamertag for use.

all used gamertags come with the hash numbers, if it is unique you dont get the hash after.

it seems to me that the hash marks repesent the number of days play in a row, i had blue eyes and 5 hash marks i hadn't played for a couple of days and was down to no eyes and 2 hash marks, but after playing for another couple days i was back to blue eyes
and 5 hash marks

The username you selected is not unique therefore you get a hash and numbers after it, you would need to select a unique gamertag to get rid of the numbers, it shows what your tag will look like just before you change it, you would need to pay again to change.
