    Problem With Preference: Play Through Headset (Settings->Preferences->Voice)


    My problem is, the preference for play through headset does not work for voice chat. For quite a while now, i've only been able to play voice through the speakers. I've tried using different controllers and, checked if the wire was dirty or not, and tried
    using different headsets. Additionally, I checked if family settings were off and if preferences were set to all allowed. Nothing has worked so far, does anyone know how to solve this?

    Click the Xbox guide button > Go To Settings > Preferences > Voice > Make sure play through Headset is checked, or Play through both. You may have Play Through Speakers checked.

    That's a bit odd with what you're experiencing. I would first suggest trying out these troubleshooting steps:

    • Clear your cache three times.
    • Turn off your Xbox 360 console.
    • Unplug all the cords connected for a few minutes.
    • Plug the cords back in.
    • Try setting the voice output to "Play Through Headset" and press B to lock it in.
    • Test it out with some friends or online players again.
    If those steps don't seem to do the trick, let us know!

    What you are describing suggests an issue with your voice settings in the preferences. Press the Guide button on the controller and scroll to the right. Choose Preferences and under Voice ensure that it's set to either Play Through Both or Play Through

    Guide button, Settings blade, Preferences, Voice, go down and select Play Through Headset and see if that helps.
