    This website can have a name (in orange at upper right) that's different than your Gamertag, even if you use the same Microsoft Account addresse (AKA Windows Live ID) to sign in. If you go to
    http://xbox.com and Sign In there, do you see your traditional gamertag name?

    Hi there SebastianDoyle! Sorry to hear you're having some profile corruption issues. To start, I can assure you there were no recent or otherwise 'silent' updates regarding this concern! Since neither of us have seen other instances of this, let's for now,
    treat it like it's a local issue. :)



    In your first post you mention you received error code 80070003, have you received this code since? This error in short means the path was not found but more importantly indicates the profile will most likely download corrupt (explanation for future reference
    as you asked).



    Now a few questions, just to make sure I'm up to speed - Have you attempted to

    remove the HDD
    and download straight to the USB to see if you still download a corrupt profile? Have you tried using an alternate USB configured for your console? What were the results when you attempted to load up that game save? Lastly, can I have you
    log into your MS account at
    accounts.live.com
    to make sure nothing is blocked with the account itself?

    as I said phil, I understand the value of the ambassador program, and I don't knock it - however it does have it's limitations, obviously. And as here, there's a danger of 'suggestions' being mistaken for, for want of a better expression, 'gospel' - for
    other users/readers, at least - I'm sure you know what I'm meaning

    For general problems, another user's experience or advice is often all that's needed :)

    I can imagine that games that use external save files will be fine, but I'm pretty sure there's an issue somewhere with the recovered profile - and SOMETHING is going to be very awry - possibly more than just my games that use profilesaves. It does appear
    to download the full 'history' of the profile - it certainly took longer to recover that last time on the different consolle. However only a tech would be able to tell me if it actually recovers MORE than just the profile file itself (no doubt it also downloads
    some marketplace and system/cache files too) but regardless - I've recovered my profile several times over the years, onto several consoles and it's always only been 'slimmed' by a few MB and hasn't been as small as 6MB since about 2007. lol. Certainly has
    never shown up as just 40KB!!

    I'll load up a profilesaving game and risk it, but I'm still concerned about just what IS missing even if it works - not to mention why does it take X amounts of minutes to download 40KB - it doesn't even take that long to download 6MB even with heavy ms
    server traffic.

    Something seems to be going on with the profile file/system cos what it downloads doesn't seem to be the same as what it actually stores. I'm suspecting some sort of patch/update, either silent, or serverside that's causing this, but I haven't seen anyone
    else experiencing the issue (but then, profile recovery isn't that commonly used I wouldn't imagine)

    I know you are mate. I think the ambassador program is a good idea - users helping users. it takes a lot of the pressure off the ms staff for the day to day problems. it's just when you get a true tech problem, then it doesn't help to have mis-information
    posted (for future readers etc) I know you meant well but the multiple copies of an account doesn't work - I know you wouldn't have suggested it if you'd known that ;)

    I'm not sure what triggered the problem in the first place, cos the profile wasn't moved - it MAY be related to the pendrive - an UNDOCUMENTED fix of the last dash update was for problems with usb storage devices (I have no proof of that though, and I doubt
    MS will admit to there even being a problem) but there was an issue with the new dash where if you transferred content to or from a storage device, it would fail to properly delete the original file. Leaving you with 2 copies of the content, but often showing
    the original as corrupt. Moving it back often cured it. This was tested on multiple consoles and storage devices, but as only a small number of users would be carrying out this operation, I guess it escaped the beta testers - anyway, the issue disappeared
    with the dash update (we'll just put that down to coincidence. lol)

    the console recognises me, yes - as I said the 40KB would be just the login shell for the profile - but I'm not willing to load up games that use profile saving and risk losing any progress.

    Hopefully I can get some tech input/investigation and I can get a full recovery download of my profile >10MB so I have the confidence that my content hasn't gone AWOL

    I haven't meant to offend either of you or seem ungrateful - just frustrating to not receive answers, etc

    The prolem may just be the USB pendrive. Try formatting it and putting the profile back onto it (make sure to backup anything important).

    I know you said you downloaded your profile onto the console directly with a size issue. I think it should be fine and work as it is essentialy the same profile. It should recognise you as such when you start up the game. Try using the profile stored on
    your console.

    If all is ok, move your profile back onto the pendrive and see if it works then.

    Honestly, I would recommend just downloading your account onto both consoles to avoid this problem.
