Problem With Microsoft Mahjong Daily Challenge

Thank you all so much for your patience and understanding. As you know, we have been working as hard and as fast as we can to get this update out ASAP. It looks like the wait will be over soon. Though I don't have a definitive date, we are pushing really
hard to get it out by the beginning of next week.

 

I have been having the same problem for weeks. Tried everything Microsoft suggested (running Windows 8) and still the same problem. Can only play 2 challenges per day. Very annoying and losing interest in the game.

 

Is there any news on a fix for Windows 8 yet? I have been having problems since early Feb and am tired of seeing the spinning tile ad nauseum. Any chance of an update on where the fix is, or whether a fix is even possible?

Anyway - I hope you see this here. Would it be at least possible to reduce the number of coins needed to get the 'gold' award? It would make me feel a little better if at least I could be recognised for winning as many games as I could - even if it's not
three every day.

And if you do ever find who forgot a semi colon in some important bit of code buried in the depths of the game somewhere, blow them a raspberry from me!

 

A fix is possible, a fix is on the way and it should be out by the beginning of this week. Just to reiterate what the problem was- the Daily Challenges for February were designed using new tile configurations. Unfortunately, those new tile configurations
did not get released before the beginning of February as planned. So the team worked hard to get those new tile maps out ASAP and as soon as they went live, the Daily Challenges got fixed. Unfortunately, we discovered after we pushed the update that those
new tile designs, etc. were only pushed out to 8.1. We've been working super hard since we realized that to make sure those new puzzles get released to 8.0 in order for our loyal 8.0 fans to complete their challenges.

Unfortunately I had to lock the main thread due to some users who were spamming it.

 

Thank you MS Win8 Games for the update. I know it's been very frustrating for everyone involved (users, techs, moderators, etc). I have been checking almost daily to see if a fix has been found only to finding mostly extremely angry posters. I'm really
in awe at how many impatient angry people there are in the world. People who lack the understanding that '***' happens and 'demand' that their needs be met or they will go else where. I've seen you take a beating from some as though it's your fault this is
all happening.

I would like to thank you for the great work you do and the time you have put into helping narrow down the problem and dealing with the chaos. You're awesome!! Don't let the haters convince you otherwise

 

The update is now up and is working fine for playing past games on Windows 8. History is still not loading. Glad I can play.

@bcdrom - Hrm, I will ask the team about it and see why the history isn't loading as we thought that bug was fixed.

 

I want to thank the tech team for their work on getting this fixed. Was able to play all the games today and am now caught up. Thank you again!!

 

Thanks for the reply Helen. Just tried History in Solitaire and it is not loading for me either. Not in a panic over this, just wanted to let you know and see if others are having this happen.

I have the exact same problem with a ton of other apps (all apps that use COM, it seems...).

My Win10 system is upgraded from Win7 and is totally up to date (both Windows and my drivers, all to the latest version and I even have my system files checked).

Initially, I thought that half of the apps in the store were sh*t and that UWP was a **** technology.

But looking at the not-bad comments in the app reviews, I got curious and looked the logs in the event viewer.

Here is just one of them, which I installed and then uninstalled after my (unreasonably huge) patience run low with it, seeing it crash before it even start, one time after the other:

What the heck is going on here?

Since other users don't see this, I would guess that something is different on my system, but I have run the verification tool many times and my system is fine.

Also, Win10 is supposed to be gathering tons of error logs for MS to digest and make improvements.

I have been getting these errors for ever.

Why there is no fix yet?
