Problem with logging into account on Xbox One, changed email alias

Hey there,

So I recently changed my email alias on my Microsoft Account, getting rid of my old hotmail account in favour of the newer gmail one, but now when I try to log in on my One, it says enter password for the hotmail account, which does not work. Even if I enter
the password for which I use to get into my Microsoft account, it will say incorrect password. Even by bringing back my hotmail account as an alias (bearing in mind I deleted it initially) and making it primary, it still will not work. Looking around the forums
there doesn't appear to be anything on this, and I'm getting a bit tired of trying the same old same old, I just want to play some games! What is also odd is that I was playing on it fine the day of changing my alias just fine, it only just began today, several
days later...

Help me!

Hi,

thanks for the reply, just want to know, my email is already a microsoft account, will this affect the chances of me making my email an alias? Also, if I make my email the primory alias, will this affect my dad’s way of logging into his microsoft account?

microsoft account info help

I added an additional alias to my microsoft account and changed it to the primary alias to the new email. It still has my old primary alias on the xbox one settings. Is there a way to get it to show the new primary alias.

Sorry you're having issues logging in with your Gmail account. Please note that even though you login with your Gmail, that doesn't mean it's your gmail password. Passwords do not sync, and it's still a Live account. Head over to
this link to try to login. if you cannot login with your Gmail account then, try doing a
password reset here.

If I understood you wanna yse the Email from the new Xbox account on the old one. If yes you need to change the Email for the new one first to disconnect Email and Xbox account. Then you need to change the Email alias for your old Xbox account on account.xbox.com.
There you need to first add ne Email and then set it as primary alias for the account.

Hello Sam, by your description you are trying to change the "Alias" of your email, but you cannot add an alias of an account that already exists.

In case you have to log into the account you would like to change your email and add a new Alias, with that you will have another email as a method of logging into your account.

changing your primary alias. If you are receiving that error message, it means the email address you want to use is already the primary alias of a Microsoft account. You must first log in to that account. If you need help

resetting the password, you can use our support article. Once you have logged in to that account, you can change the primary alias for it. After you have set up a new primary alias on that account, you can remove the email that you want from it. At that
point, you can go ahead and use that email address as the primary alias of your main account. Be sure to let us know the results!
