Problem with gaming with a controller on Xbox App

I used to play games with my Xbox series controller and until recently I didn't have any problems. For some reason I'm unable to play games on the Xbox App with it because the games seems to don't detect my controller correctly and the layout of buttons change from the controller to keyboard every time I click a button on controller. Controller -> Keyboard -> Controller etc. I thought it could be Insider's fault so I quit it but the issue is still there. I don't know what can I do to fix it.

Thanks for the fast reply but this did not help me with my problem. except from the xbox beta app i have no problems playing games with my wireless xbox 360 controller on my win 10 pc. i would consider buying an xbox one controller if that would solve
the problem. does the xbox beta app (game pass for win 10) support the xbox 360 controller normally?

I had the same issue. The controller worked for navigating through Xbox app. but when a Xcloud game is launched, the inputs stopped working. I force stopped Xbox app and unpaired controller and removed it from Bluetooth devices. After reconnecting, the controller is working in Xcloud games. Hopefully it will fix your problem too. And it is for sure that this error is of Xbox app.

Does it happen to any games you play from Xbox?

For us to isolate the issue, could you please try to use your Xbox controller with a USB cable? Check if we got the same issue.

If you have another Xbox One Wireless Controller, use it to reproduce what you were trying to do with the original controller.

If you experience the same problem using the second wireless controller, the problem is probably with the app or game you’re using. Consult the troubleshooting information for that app or game.

If you don’t experience the same problem using the second wireless controller, then you should replace your current controller. To order a replacement, go to the Xbox Online Service Center.
