problem with downloading backwards compatibility

i have a problem when i attempt to download xbox 360 games for free of gold it gives me a message saying that i can't purchase on xbox .com when i am on my console

It uses the word downloading not installing. So methinks it will d/l a version that is compatible with the X1's architecture.

Downloading BO1 to XB1

Try downloading it from the Xbox store on your. Xbox under backwards compatibility.

Hey there!

That's an odd error message. Next time it pops up, could you give us a screenshot please? And have you tried obtaining the Games with Gold games via Xbox.com instead of on the console? Does that work for you?

Does this happen for every game you try to purchase or only some games? Having more info will help us try to figure out what's going on here.

it only pops up when i am trying to download xbox 360 games, also i have tried purchasing it on xbox .com and comes up with the same message.

Hey there, thanks for that screenshot!

That particular error message is generally seen with child accounts. Is your account a child account by any chance? If so, that would be the reason you get that error message for backward compatible/Xbox 360 titles. The workaround for this is making the
purchases through an Xbox 360 console directly or having the parent account purchase it on the Xbox One and share the game using the

home console method.

Hopefully that clarifies a bit.

Your not the only one having problems with backward compatibility on using the disc. I was able to download it with no problem. The problem I'm having with it is it starts to search for downloadable content on a continuous loop of searching for downloadable
content. I think the backward compatibility download may have a bug or glitch in the software.

As some additional information. to the answer already specified.

The backward compatible game while it is the same game the download is basically different version of the game, being the backward compatible version of the game. This is also the reason why inserting a backward compatible game via disc will result in the
backward compatible version being downloaded (disk is still required to start the game)

So in order for you to download that backward compatible version you will have to login to the Xbox Live Account that is used on the 360, which allows you to download backward compatible games that you own.

Same problem, Works fine on Xbox one but 360 and backwards compatable does not allow online play. Tried all the "experts" recommendations and now can not even download my profile to the backwards compatable game when it loads, 2 hrs wasted
