    Problem with DNS! HELP!

I am new to the forum and i werent sure where to post this, so i just put it here.

Right so my problem is that i have a TP-Link TD-8840T Modem Router.

And when playing online games on the Xbox One, i have been forced to use different DNS servers all year. I have used NameBench to find the best DNS servers for me, and after going through almost all of them i cannot get a lag-free connection.

The only time i manage to play without lag is if i use my ISP's DNS server, however whilst the game is lag-free i get disconnected AFTER games. Not in the middle of them or before, only after. And to be more specific this actually only occurs on FIFA
14, it doesnt happen on Call Of Duty etc.

This is really frustrating as i have been unable to fix it, been trying for weeks. So if some of you a bit smarter and more into this kind of people would be able to help me i would be really happy!

    Some Information:

    NAT: Open

Ports Forwarded/Triggered: Yes all the ports have been Triggered that Xbox Live and the games in question require.

    Wired/Wireless: Wired

    Location/Country: Finland

Ps. My ISP was also unable to help me with this issue (They didnt even seem to understand the question).

    :)

    Problem with DNS! HELP!

DNS resolution time really shouldn't be a factor unless there's major packet loss going on.

Try using Google's DNS servers? 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4

I have used the Google DNS and that is by far the worst i've been using. However i might add that when i change my DNS i have to change it on the PC and on the router page as well as Xbox One, because if i do not Xbox will keep giving me an error message:
Xbox cannot resolve DNS server names...

I don't think your issue is the DNS server. You should always use your ISP's DNS unless there are known issues.

It sounds more like there is an issue with disconnecting whilst playing FIFA as you said all other games are ok?

Yes all other game(s) are OK. Well i only play 2 different games FIFA and Call Of Duty. I just do not understand why does the problem only occur when using the correct DNS provided by my ISP?

@Zero Divided. Could this be down to location and or high traffic on the particular server? Like i said i live in Finland...

It's not DNS, your router will store DNS entries as well as the Xbox to resolve external IP's quicker.

It's basically a huge lookup table of IP addresses linked to associated domains.

So essentially you only need a few storing, like Microsoft, EA Servers etc, your unlikely to be going peer to peer each game.

You could try running a packet sniffer on a laptop linked to the router to see if anything weird is happening. My gut feeling is a game bug, secondly is cheaters trying to DoS you.

Do you have a static IP ?

i would say your best bet would be to do as f00xm4n suggested and get a packet sniffer, Wireshark is a good and free, and you can run a capture during a game until you get kicked to see what's happening, but you might have to do some research to decipher
what all of that information means.

    Problem with DNS! HELP!

As the guys above pointed out, Wireshark is a good packet sniffer and is easy to read - start it just before the end of your game and see if anything funky is going on when it disconnects Problem with DNS! HELP! :)

Make sure you save the capture as the amount of times i've re run tests when using call recorders because i close wireshark is crazy!

If you have a static ip, it's easier for people to mess with it, by sending packets to your xbox ports to try and lag your game to make you loose.

I have only read this and have no idea if it's even possible.

It's an odd problem indeed, have you looked on fifa forum for similar problems ?
