    Problem with changing parent account


    I need to change my child's parent account on Xbox Live. I've followed instructions I found (can't remember where now!) which confirmed I needed to remove my husband's account from my child's before adding mine.

    Once I'd removed my husband's account, I tried logging into my child's account, which came up with a prompt telling me my child's parent account was invalid and needed updating (or something like that!). So I followed the instructions to get linked up to
    a new parent account. After accepting the terms and conditions it says "Xbox Live signup is currently unavailable. Please try again later." I've attempted this around 9 times now (yes, entered all those details over & over again...) and on 3 separate days
    over the span of 2 weeks. Still no joy.

    I've googled this and there are others out there in a similar situation. Is this temporary or is there something wrong?

    I'm now left with the option of my child playing offline or using my account to play online - which I'd prefer not to do for obvious reason! My child is young and is likely to add random friends and/or bankrupt me by buying lots of stuff!!

    To clarify, phone support was unable to assist with changing the parent on your account?

    Cant send messages, receive messages or join parties...

    If you have a child account, the parental controls may be the problem. You might need to check the parent account to see if any settings have changed that are limiting your ability to communicate as well.
