And I'll try and explain it correctly I've had my xbox series x for a couple months with no problems at all. About 3 or so...     So this might sound weird. And I'll try and explain it correctly

    I've had my xbox series x for a couple months with no problems at all. About 3 or so days ago I get on and it looks bad, so I check and it's displaying in 1080p and says my tv doesn't support 4k ( I 100% know it does as I've had it for a while)

    This is where it gets weird.

    After not being able to select 4k I decide to just watch Netflix and after opening the app my xbox suddenly recognizes my tv as 4k capable.

    This happens now without fail.

    1. No 4k gaming
    2. Open netflix and suddenly 4k game is back.
    3. Turn off console and it repeats

    Any help would be appreciated I can provide photos or a video if that's possible.

    I use a capture card because of this and another problem I encountered is that if you capture 4k HDR videos on external when you upload them to Youtube only the 4k aspect of it uploads but not the HDR and the video ends up looking weird

    Yeah its weird only xboxs movies do it netflix works great in 4k, but when i try watching endgame in 4k it says you need to be connected to online

    cant get 4k when running on a projector.....

    It's a weird situation to explain. It IS true 4K, especially when it comes to other devices, but the console has very specific things that it will run 4K on.

    Are you using the HDMI cable that came with the Xbox One S? If not (and I understand length is a factor when using a projector), that COULD be why it's not giving you the 4K option? However, HDR should be running just as well as 4K.

    My screen is messed up.

    Resetting it fixed the problem but when I tried to turn on 4K it got messed up again. My tv says it’s supposed to support 4K at 60hz.

    I know the problem exists in both 4K SDR and HDR. I haven't experimented with 1080 capture and probably wont use it as it doesnt look good and captures at 30fps which is also weird.
