Problem Talking to People (in game chat and party chat)

Like the title says, I'm having problems talking to my friends online. Every time I try to talk, all they can hear is static or complete silence. At first, I thought this was an issue with my mic, so I changed it. The replacement mic did the same thing,
still static or silence. That led me to believe it was a problem with my controller, so I switched it out. The new controller had the same problem with both headsets still. So, I decided to change it out again. The third controller, again with both mics, did
not fix the problem. Also, I reset my console in between controller checks, and I made sure the controllers were up to date with updates. I believe that it may be an Xbox One preview program update problem. I was a member of the preview program, but I removed
my registration after seeing this problem. I tested all of this before I removed my registration. After custom support didn't help me one bit, I decided I would try here.

Why can i hear gamechat while I'm in a party?

I'm not sure if this is right place to post this but I'm having a problem. For the past 5-6 months maybe even longer every time I'm in a party chat with my mic not plugged in i can still hear people talking in game chat. But when i plug in my mic i don't
so i wonder if they can hear me talking while I'm in party chat. How do i fix this problem?

 

Anyone use a headset anymore??

of sad because people say "xbox live is a terrible place outside of party chat", but the only way they can make it better is to leave party chat and become the solution to the problem.

I mean, you don't always have to be in game chat. But I make sure that when I am in party chat and I see someone talking, I switch to game chat to see if they're worth talking to. If they're not, I go back to party chat. If they are, I usually make a new friend.

 

I am having the same problem. I was playing Forza Horizon 3 and "bam" out of nowhere no one could hear me. I tried hard resetting the console, nothing. I power cycled the console, nothing. I tried to plug it in to a new outlet in the wall for ample power,
nothing. I tried 3 new mics, nothing. I am using a elite controller, tried using a different controller, nothing. My brother can use both of my controllers, and all three of my mics, and they all work fine. Really the only thing I didn't do was buy another
console. Before any Microsoft employees come here and ask me about my NAT type, and the mute button being on, no, my NAT is OPEN, and my MUTE BUTTON is off. Also, all of my settings are set to the lowest privacy, everything is allowed on my console, and I
even went as far as to call my ISP to make sure my speeds were what they should be. But, no, no avail. So please Microsoft, tell me why me and this man can not talk in a party chat. Surely it isn't a hardware problem.

 

Same problem but I can talk to people through party chat but not through in game chat (like in Battlefield 1 and World of Tanks) but surprisingly I can talk to people in Overwatch. What is even more frustrating is that (like you said) customer support doesn't
help and all the solutions I do find aren't the solutions that I actually need. From time-to-time I can hear the people in game speak through my TV when I'm supposed to be hearing them through my head set and when I speak I can see the mic icon that indicates
that I'm talking but no one can hear me through in game chat but they can hear me through Xbox party chat...... XBOX FIX THIS **** NOW OR SO HELP ME I WILL GO TO YOUR HQ AND PISS ON EVERY ELECTRONIC DEVICE I CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
