Problem setting up second xbox

I am having an issue setting up a second xbox I purchased from a co-worker. I am having no issues with my original (Day One) xbox I have setup in the living room but the new one (a One S) keeps saying I can't play online due to a privacy setting. I'm positive
the issue is in the xbox and not with my account because I can play online just fine with my main xbox and it gives the same error message to another person that tried to play online with it (they also used my other xbox just fine). I have tried everything
I can think of, even doing a factory reset on the system and that didn't seem to help. The system connects to Xbox Live just fine, it has done internet updates just fine, but trying to play games it says my account is not setup to allow it.

Thank you for coming to the forums, I'd be happy to help.

The main factor that would prevent you from playing online if the network is fine is that the account does not have an active Gold subscription as I've seen error messages that look like there are related to privacy setting issues actually be related to
subscription issues.

Does the account you are using have a paid for subscription or where you game sharing with another account? Gold subscriptions also share with the Home console feature like the game licenses do.

I believe it has to do with a subscription issue if you have done a factory reset to the console and yet it still will not let you play online. The main Xbox you use could have an account with a Gold subscription sharing to the rest.

If not, then go ahead and
power cycle your Xbox.

Let us know if you've ruled out the Gold subscription as the cause.

First thing to know is that all DLC and Games downloaded from Xbox Live Marketplace are tied to the first console and account who purchased them.

So for example Minecraft is tied to console A and the account that purchased it, but can be played by ALL account on that console (console A).

If you want to play Minecraft (same example) on console B (the one you are setting up), you have to stay connected to Xbox Live with the same Account that purchased the game, otherwise it will be showed as a trial/demo.

Your best solution to share games and DLC within the two xbox is to move the accounts between console and stay connected to xbox live.

-Yes it's a solution, you only need xbox live verification (log in with the original account that purchased the games) on console B just for XBLA games and DLC, but of course not for retail disc games.

You can exchange saves from one console to another, and even from one profile to another.
