Problem redeeming a prepaid live gold subscription code

Hello,

I have problems activating my live gold subscription both on xbox and online.

When i try to activate it online it gives me this :

Something went wrong
Give it another try. If this happens again, let us know by entering the code below at xbox.com/errorhelp so we can investigate.

If I try to do it on xbox it says This code isn't valid Please enter a valid code.

I have tried it multiple times both online and on xbox and assured that the code is valid.

unable to change my automatic billing

To change your automatic renewal you can do so at xbox.com under the My Account option. Here is a link with detailed steps of what to do.

If you have a prepaid code, once you redeem it with either xbox.com or through your console, your membership will update with the new expiration date. Here is a link to steps for redeeming codes:

Where did you purchase the code from? If it was from a country other than your gamertag is for then it will not work as Live codes are region locked.

If it was from a local retailer then try taking it back to have then activate the code as it may not have been activated by them when you purchased it.

 

shouldn't the live pre paid codes be worldwide? It said on the page where I bought it that it should work worldwide.

 

Also, when i go to xbox -> settings -> account -> your memberships it gives me an error that says:

Sorry, there's a problem with the xbox service, Try again later. For help with this problem, go to www.xbox.com/errorhelp

Status code: 80153003

It cannot be only my account's problem as I've tried to activate the code on an another account aswell, but it didn't work there either. These codes have to be worldwide as I have bought them from the same retailer before and have had no problems with them....

 

Gold cards used to be region free, but in the past few years they have made them region locked.
