Problem reading dvd discs?

box an xbox one s 2 weeks ago, brand new from big chain store and i cant play dvd's on mine either. Blu rays work intermittently and games work fine. Spent ages with online chat and no help at all. I'm at the point where im going to return the console due
to not being able to play my sons movies ( 4yrs old ) but will be out of pocket massively with the games ive purchased

sort it out microsoft as this is clearly a long term issue with the stupid app. Why cant you just let it play them with out an app !!!!!!!

games & apps instead. ( 0x91d7000)." It plays Blu-ray and game discs just fine

Literally just had this exact same thing happen to me today. It was playing DVDs still last week when we last watched a movie, but exact same symptoms started today. Plays all Blu-Rays, Plays all Xbox One games and even plays backwards compatible Xbox 360
games which are on DVDs... (was enjoying Red Dead Redemption just yesterday) and boom... now every time I put in a regular DVD (and I've tried 5 or 6 so far) it loads the Blu-ray Player app screen... then goes to a black screen and does nothing, and the controller
will no longer work until I physically press the eject button and kick out the DVD, then it goes back to working normally. I too did hard resets, unplugged and held the power button for 30 seconds and rebooted, and even deleted the Blu-Ray app - reset - and
then reinstalled it and nothing helps. Anyone have an answer?!

HI All. I am having this same problem. I am not sure what to do. I have read all the posts and trouble shooting has done no good.

Can someone give me some advice please. I know these are from years ago but i have not had my Xbox 1 for that long.

Unfortunately it still isn't working for me.

Yes i have tried several DVD's some of which are brand new so have so no reason not to work.( don't own any Blu-ray's to test).

According to my friends none of them have experienced this on there Xbox's.

Additional the DVD's I'm trying to play used to play on my Xbox no problem :/

It stopped working after playing RedDead (backwards) could that cause any issues ?
