problem kinect adapter

Hello everyone!

I purchased a Kinect sensor v2 and a Kinect adatper in order to connect the sensor to my pc (Windows 10), where I installed the drivers: Kinect for Windows SDK v2.0 and Kinect for Windows Runtime v2.0.

However, my pc is not able to recognise the sensor.

So, I did a test with a friend's Kinect adapter and everything worked.

The point is that these two models of Kinect adapter are slightly different, so I was wondering if someone can help me telling me if my Kinect adapter needs other kind of drivers or another procedure rather than the one I described above or something like
this. (I enclose a photo of my Kinect adapter model).

Hi Llenia,

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand you are trying to set up your Kinect. If you already have the drivers installed and still not recognized. We recommend to uninstall the drivers. To do this:

Go to the configuration panel, add remove programs and Uninstall anything that stats with the word Kinect.

You can also follow the guide for
Kinect for windows. Also try the
Kinect for windows FAQ for drivers.

When you go to the FAQ you will see get the Kinect for windows SDK. Click that and download them.

Hi milter,

No problem! To answer your second question, yes the power adapter is compatible for Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and Windows 10 and is the only Kinect adapter available. You can use the adapter to connect a Kinect for Xbox One to an Xbox One S or an Xbox One
X or you can use the adapter to connect either a Kinect for Xbox One or Kinect for Windows v2 to a Windows 10 PC.

Yes, the Xbox One S and X console models does not have the dedicated Kinect port anymore, and needs an Adapter to connect Kinect to a standard USB connector.

The problem is, that Microsoft stopped making Kinect and the Adapter.

So the only way to get the Adapter nowadays is to try getting it used on eBay or garage sales and the likes.

However since the Adapters are now in high demand with limited quantities, a lot of eBay sellers basically demand an arm and a leg for an adapter that sold new for about 40 US$ originally.

The only thing we can do is wishing you good luck in finding such an adapter for a suitable price.

The 360 will support USB hubs. I'm not sure if Kinect will, though.

You could put a hub on the front ports, but as noted Kinect comes with a solution to the wireless adapter problem.
