Problem even when connecting directly from console to modem.

I recently just upgraded from my apartment complex's complimentary internet to my own ISP.

I'm now having trouble connecting my Xbox One to the internet, whether it be wireless, direct to router, or even direct to modem. On the other hand though, my phone and my laptop both connect with internet access with ease.

When I connect wireless I get a 'can't connect to your DHCP server' error and when I connect hardwired I get a 'can not obtain IP address' message.

Anyone have a similar situation and find a solution? I'm trying to avoid driving 40 minutes to the closest TWC location that is open on a Saturday to get a new modem just to find out that that wasn't the issue.

Okay, that's fine. Go ahead connect your Xbox console directly to your router with the cable. If the problem persists even when it is directly connected to the router, try connecting it directly to your modem instead.

If you are wirelessly connected, try a wired connection. Either directly to the router or modem and see if you're still being dropped. If you're still being dropped when direct to the modem it's likely your connection and that's when you should troubleshoot with your isp. These are just a few steps to try. Good luck!

It is possible that it is the modem however I would suggest calling support for your ISP first. Perhaps it's a setting in the modem itself that is preventing the console from connecting. Maybe they can walk you through it.

I assumed it was the modem since if I plug directly into the wall (the complimentary apt internet) I have strict NAT and can't connect to any friends' parties. When I switched to time warner they gave me their own modem and I have my own router. I tried
using two different routers, both with ports forwarded specifically for Xbox One, and connected via ethernet and wifi, and both do not allow either my Xbox One or 360 to connect to the internet. Both don't even recognize the internet for that matter whenever
it is through my private TWC modem, but both do connect with the complex internet.

You may need to make your Xbox's mac address the same as your computers so you wont have this issue. Yes it is possible to have a direct connection from your modem to your Xbox by simply plugging the Ethernet cable into your Xbox from the back of the modem.

Yeah you can absolutely connect your modem directly to your Xbox. So your Network checks out fine. If the Internet or Xbox Live test fails, trying resetting your modem by power cycling (unplugging) it for 30 seconds. While it's unplugged go to Settings ->
System -> Network Settings -> Choose your Network which would be the Wired Network in this case -> Go to Configure Network -> Additional Settings and in there I would try Restoring the Factory Defaults. Let me know if this works. It's my process if my Network
is being difficult.
