Problem downloading the mandatory upgrade

Everytime my some tries to download the upgrade to play online it gets part way though it (21% has been the furtherest) and then an error message appears. Wifi is definitely connected. We have tried resetting it by turning off at the console and unplugging
at the wall but still no joy. Not sure where to go for help. Thank you.

unable to download upgrade

I'm unable to download the upgrade, it prompts me to test connections which is fine until it wants to upgrade the xbox live which is where I run into the problem with downloading the upgrade and it just repeats.

In all fairness even if they went full on smart phone mode a yearly or even bi-yearly update wouldn't be mandatory. You can get by today no problem with an iPhone 4. Yearly upgrade pressure is entirely self inflicted. Closer to home PC's and GPUs get at least some form of new release every year and no one other then people who want to are compelled to upgrade.

Have you tried a wired connection? Have the Xbox directly connect to the Internet router/modem/gateway with an ethernet cable.

Wi-Fi signal may occasionally drop out due to interference and such. Let's try to rule out that possibility with a wired connection.

You cannot upgrade from the original Duels to Magic 2012...they are two completely separate games. There is a mandatory title update to download if you want to stay connected to Xbox LIVE, but all title updates are free.

They likely reason for this is the necessity for bug fixes to ensure compatibility of the Xbox one version. Given how many people download the wrong version, we see it all the time here, combined with the fact that the developer may not wish to devote the resources to cross compatibility when there is already a series version, could explain the issue.

Yep I've been trying to get it set up for over 12 hours. First problems with the mandatory update, then signing in, then downloading the mandatory update for my game, now logging in again. Honestly I bet the 360 would work perfectly now.
