Problem downloading Mafia II (Games with Gold)

I've read somewhere that people are having similar problems too. Everytime when I finish downloading the game I get a message saying "Can't download Mafia II". I talked to Microsoft via Live Chat and tried clearing my cache and gametag as well, but the problem
persists.

I move between the UK and Malaysia back and forth, but I don't think region is a problem, as there was no issue for the other Games with Gold on my download queue.

Mafia II is a brilliant game.

F1 depends on wether you like racing games/F1.

Personally I love F1 so will be downloading it for sure as I never got around to buying it.

"Mafia II" is a great game.

Which region (country) were you in when you attempted to purchase the game and which region is your gamertag set for? Where are you now when you're trying to download?

Region can definitely be an issue as some games can only be downloaded for the region in which they were intended.

 

I'm in Malaysia right now, and my gamertag region is probably UK. I first purchased the game (Mafia II) in the UK I think.

Should I change my gamertag region? It seems like I might lose my remaining money and contents if I do move regions, according to this page:
live.xbox.com/.../AccountMigration

 

Changing the region won't help in cases like this. First off, if you have currency on your account you can't change the region. Second, the issue is going to be with your IP. Because you are attempting to download from a different IP than the game was
intended you won't be able to download it.

You'll have to wait until you're back in the UK to redownload the game.

 

I see, thanks a lot. It's a pain though. The Games with Gold programme is meant to be worldwide, and like I've mentioned, I have had no problem with all the other GwG games no matter where I'm downloading them.

Do you think there's a way I can forward this thread/issue to a Microsoft staff? I've had enough of the Live Chat, having to explain everything all over again before getting disconnected for no reason.

 

Sorry, there is no way to forward the thread. However, the issue with downloading is not due to restrictions by Xbox but rather via the developer and restrictions imposed via local governments.

 

It wouldnt not just be mafia alot of triple a titles are region locked

Gears of war

Fable

Datksiders. And the list goes on

 

I see. I guess I would have to download them when I'm back in the UK then.

I'm having more problems with the latest GWG game though (Dungeon Siege III). For the prior games I was able to add them to my download queue even if it's not possible to complete the download, but for Dungeon Siege III I can't even add it to my download
queue, and I won't be able to download the game even when I'm back in the UK (as it would no longer be free via GWG). Is there anything I can do about this?

 

Do you have anyone in the UK who could try starting the download for you?

 

It's complicated because they require a one-time PIN everytime someone logs in with a new device. I've forgone Dungeon Siege III and now there's the same problem with OF: Dragon Rising. The download for Sacred III, on the other hand, seems just fine though.
