Problem downloading a game from an Install disc.

Destiny has been having some issues lately, Manly an error code following attempted patch update.

The last resort to fix the issue is to uninstall and reinstall the game.

However, The update is frozen at 88%. Have tried to uninstall and reinstall twice. Hard shut down both modem-router and XBOne, and tried hardwiring.

Anyone else having this issue?

I have question regarding digital and physical copies of games.

Its going to install the game off the Disc, and download any updates fromt he servers.

Earlier games had a problem where the install time would take forever because it would download the Disc and the updates at the same time, but now they ask you if you want to download the updates while installing.

Game Installation By Disc Fixed On Xbox One?

Have any of the recent updates fixed game installation by disc? Have heard that game installs by disc can be very long if the One is connected to the internet because the console will download the entire game and updates instead of doing the main game install from the disc. Not sure why this was ever an issue because the console should have been able to detect when a disc is inserted and do the game install from the disc. When you install by disc it installs from the disc. It doesn't download the entire game, only updates.

Sorry to hear about the install issues! Let's begin by uninstalling the game. After you uninstall the game, follow the steps below to power cycle your Xbox One console, which will clear the system cache:

Press and hold the power button on the Xbox One console for 10 seconds, or until the unit is fully powered off.

Unplug the power supply from the back of the Xbox One console and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Plug the power back in and power on.

After you have completed this, follow the steps to go offline and install the game without being connected to the internet:

Press the Menu button on your controller and select Settings.

In the Settings menu, select Network.

In this menu, select 'Disconnect wireless' and proceed to install the game from your disc.

Try this method out in those specific steps. Since you are installing from a physical disc, going offline will allow the game to install uninterrupted by game updates. Be sure to post back and let us know how it goes!

When you say downloading a game, do you mean installing from a disc or downloading from Xbox Live? If installing from disc, then there is a some vibration from the the spin of the disc when the game is installing.

It installs the whole disc only if there are no updates.

If there are updates then it will pull the updated files off the internet as the game is installed.

Dead rising 3 for instance downloads 12GB while installing even though the game is only about 20GB on disc.

So the only time the whole disc is installed without downloading anything is if there are no updates available.

You can avoid this by disconnecting your console from the internet before installing a disc. This will let the whole disc install without downloading anything. Problem is that next time you connect it will insist on downloading the update anyway.

A fast internet is not needed but helps, if I'm following correctly, the problem is that when you install from the disc, the Xbox will first download any patches needed before installing the game, if you have a slow internet connection it is best to install
the disc offline, then go online and it'll download the updates.
