Hi all, I've been having this problem for a long time now. Yesterday I spent over an hour chatting to Microsoft support via live chat and I'm still having issues! I am trying to change my privacy settings via my account on xbox.com, in particular, I need
to change "who can see if you are online" from everybody to blocked. However, after changing the setting and clicking save, I get.........

Uh oh... that shouldn't have happened. It appears you've found a glitch in the system.

    .....

I get this using firefox, but if I try it in internet explorer or chrome, the page just hangs and eventually I get timed out! I can go to "settings>preferences" via the xbox dashboard and then change the setting, but this resets back every time I boot up
the console! I'm at my wits end here, can somebody please help me?

    :)

    PRoblem with changing privacy settings.

First, an adult account must change these settings. If your xbox account is a child account that can't be changed in any way - even changing the birth date. If that is so, you will need an adult to create an account, add you to a family group and do this
    for you.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12417/microsoft-account-add-members-to-family

On your adult account go here
    https://account.xbox.com/Settings
and click on the child's account and allow the option on the first page called "Share stuff people make (Xbox 360: Member Content)" to everyone (must be everyone). Also, on the first page, "Others can communicate with voice,
text, or invites" to Friends or Everybody. And on the xbox one/windows 10 tab the second option down, "Join multiplayer games", enable that. And then log out and in on the account in question on the console/device and that account can play online.

If your microsoft account is an adult account you may be able to access that page but any changes will not take effect for real if your xbox account is a child account.

    Problem changing privacy settings

Im not sure of why your getting this error , the easiest way you can change it is through your account on xbox go to Dashboard > move over to settings > privacy and then you can customize how you want
