Problem buying Xbox 360 backwards compatible games

my son (17) is trying to buy backwards compatible games via marketplace on his Xbox one. It keeps telling him he needs to on his Xbox not Xbox.com to do it.....he is on his Xbox. Anyone got any ideas?

Just remember before buying the Xbox One that it is not backwards compatible with 360 games.

 

Quick question!

Buying a 360 game on Xbox.com adds the game to your download queue on the 360, so the next time the console switches on it can begin downloading. The ''ready to install'' list on Xbox one runs from your purchase history. So as long as the game you are buying
IS backwards compatible, It should work.

What the Xbox store actually says is 'Sorry, your account is unable to make this type of purchase on Xbox.com. Please complete this transaction from your Xbox.'

2. It will allow a purchase using my account, but won't him to buy anything even rated less than an 18..

It is a security measure built into the Xbox 360. Even though you are now on the Xbox One, your child's account still will need permission to download games. Since the Xbox One uses the same interface as the Xbox.com store, the only way to properly allow
him to download games is directly through an Xbox 360.

So what is the point of making the games backwards compatible if he can't download them?! He had a 360 before, I have checked the settings online for that and he can purchase ok. He can purchase Xbox one games without issue. It doesn't make sense.

 

If he is trying to purchase M rated content, he will still need a parental account's permission. Have you tried signing into the Xbox One and downloading the game for him?

 

Hi, what is M rated? It won't let him purchase any 360 games, but yes would allow me to do so.

 

M rated is for Mature audiences only. Although your child is 17, that does not make him eligible to purchase titles such as these. Xbox sees 18 as the age in which they gain all the rights and privileges of an adult when using an Xbox. As such, they no longer

I am running into this exact same issue but i don't have an xbox 360 , so i lost all the microsoft points i bought?

No you did not lose them. You will be able to use the currency in your account to buy Xbox One games from your Xbox One.

 

By the way i already changed my settings and the game i am trying to buy isn't M rated

 

You still need parental approval for 360 games

 

Having the same issue, I frequently purchase games and never had this happen, never had any child settings enabled, very frustrated, especially when it's a game I had hard copy but lost it, please help.
