Privacy Settings Ouroboros Hell on Minecraft Realms Xbox

I have a child account setup for my son under my Xbox Live Gold account. I have followed instructions at https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4482922/xbox-one-online-safety-and-privacy-settings-for-parents-and-kids changing privacy settings for both
accounts. I have also changed it online via the privacy settings on microsoft.com and nothing works.

My account is set to completely open but even I cannot join on Minecraft. The Marketplace doesn't work either becomes disabled with a red [ ! ] saying something is wrong with the account.

I have even gone through the process of creating a new child account which does the exact same thing.

I am close to tearing my hair out because the accounts both work fine on Win10 which makes me think it's a settings problem on the Xbox One but I have set absolutely everything to Allow, Everybody etc.

Aside from completely resetting the Xbox, is there anything I can try?

Do you have a mobile phone? Android or iPhone/iPad? If you do, download the 'Xbox Family' app. There is a setting in there that will set the appropriate settings for Minecraft.

To change the Minecraft Realm privacy for everyone, follow these steps:

Sign in to your Xbox account.
Open the Xbox app and select “Minecraft.”
Select “Settings” and then “Privacy and security.”
Select “Change online privacy and security settings.”
Select “Everyone” to allow anyone to join your Realm, or select “Friends” to allow only your friends to join.
Save the changes.

If it asks you for a game pass to join your friends in Minecraft, it may be because the kingdom owner has changed the kingdom's privacy settings. If the realm owner has set the privacy settings to “Friends Only,” only players who have an Xbox Game Pass membership will be able to join the realm.

If you're not sure if the kingdom owner has changed their privacy settings, you can ask them directly. If you don't have an Xbox Game Pass membership and want to join the realm, you'll need to purchase a membership or ask the realm owner to change your privacy settings.
