Preview update messes with console?

Let me make it clear, I am not in the preview program but everytime they receive a preview, my xbox becomes incredibly unstable. It's as if my xbox thinks I'm a preview member though I'm not. I've posted on here before about this a couple of months ago last
update and it seems others share my affliction. My xbox will randomly freeze and brick up for almost no reason. Very frustrating and troublesome. I had this problem last preview and then it went away and it's back again! Please help lads!

When you are at your homescreen on the console can you please confirm if My Games & Apps is located in the bottom left corner of the screen near the pins section or the top right of the screen? This information should allow us to know if your console is
running the preview software or not.

 

It's at the bottom still and I'm positive I'm not running the preview software but I'm getting many problems as if I am. As I mentioned this happened last preview as well. It was working smoothly and flawlessly again until a couple days ago it started happening
again. I'll be watching or playing something then things get sluggish and it just totally locks up. And again when I power cycle, sometimes I get Green screen of death.

I know those sort of things happen in the preview program and I've seen an influx yet again of similar issues on these forums. I just find it very strange in the timing of these problems. I was patient and waitedd it out last time, but it is rather aggravating.

So i am part of the preview program and the last update downloaded for my xbox today and it completely *** up my xbox. it would stay at the loading screen when you turn it on for ever so i called support and they had me format it. it worked for like 30 seconds
and now my xbox wont work even to format it a second time. any suggestions

 

As I've stated if you read my posts, I am NOT in the preview program therefore I CANNOT POST IN THE PREVIEW FORUMS. But the last two to three times the preview program has recieved a preview, my Xbox becomes really unstable and totally locks up very often.The
only way to fix that is to do a hard reset, which occasionally results in the Green screen of death. I'd like to have this resolved in one way or another. The troubles subside eventually after the real update comes out but I don't want to deal with this every
time.

Please don't suggest manual update/ Reset to factory or uninstall my Profile. I have done this numerous times and it doesn't help while the problems persist. I would just REALLY appreciate someone passing this along and help me cind a solution. Please!

 

After the Cortina update I recently received, my box no longer plays my games. I keep getting an error message telling me that it took too long to load. This is for my physical and digital titles.

 

Please, is no one going to try and help us solve this problem? It seems very widespread whether you're in the preview or not.

 

Hey there Keedle,

If the console is randomly freezing it could be an issue with the console placement and ventilation. Take a look at this guide and let us know if your console is in a spot where it's well ventilated.

Also, are you using an external hard drive with the console or just the internal drive? If you're using an external, does removing that drive and using the internal have any effect on the performance?

It is vented well and I'm not using any external HD. I appreciate the suggestions but I really would like this addressed as I believe it is a software issue. I am not the only one experiencing this

It will seemingly clear up and then flare up again every so often, most usually when a preview update is released. I would appreciate at least passing these experiences onto the xbox tech/dev team or whoever needs to see it because this is effecting quite
a few people.

Keedle, let me ask, did you purchase this console new, used, etc.? I ask because, there was a legacy issue in the 360 preview program where, if a user purchased a used (or refurbished console) which was enrolled in the preview under the previous gamertag
(who was a valid Preview member) then, even if the old account was completely removed from the system, the CONSOLE ID was still enrolled in the preview updates if the user failed to unregister the system. At that point, even though the new user's gamertag
is not in the program, the system continues to receive preview updates.

I don't know that's what's happening here, but it seems plausible. I know we have had several new re-enrollment phases as new dashboard versions entered testing, but it could be enough to flummox the system when update time rolls around. Has a little identity
crisis. This may be the first time something like this has come up, so thanks for bringing it to light!

 

Thanks for the responses guys! While it is obviously annoying for me, I mostly want to help trace what is causing this by giving as much relevant info as possible and maybe allow the team to make a fix.

@Jaymo, I purchased my Xbox One brand new back when the Titanfall bundle came out. I believe I signed up for the preview program but was never accepted, could that somehow result in what you were mentioning and be confusing my console? Because the timing
of the lockups and hard freezing happens is oddly close to the release of preview releases. And thanks for passing this along.
