Preview Dashboard BETA, Updates, and Private Forums

Good morning. I just completed a discussion with one of your support agents regarding a few issues I am having. I'll see if I can summarize with a little back-story and specifics.

My console has apparently been flagged as one with a disc drive error as I've received an "Important Notice" suggesting as much. I wouldn't know as any games or media I utilize have all been digital purchases and downloads. I've never used the disc drive...
but I digress. The notice is suggesting that I send it in for repairs in order to continue getting system updates. According to the list of OS updates... the last one my console received is
6.2.11393.0 (xb_rel_1408.140808-1753) fre on 8/17/2014. Has this error blocked my consoles ability to get updates?

This leads to my next issue. On October 10th I received a message from Xbox Live stating "Your invite for the Xbox Preview program is waiting! To register your console(s), open this message on your Xbox One, install the Xbox Preview Dashboard by
selecting 'Launch app', and then 'Get it FREE' from the app details page." I attempted to do so... but as soon as I try to install it I get a message that says "Installation Stopped!" and then kicked to a screen that says "There is a problem with
the update." I shrugged... at first... and then I realized that some of my games and apps no longer function. Dead Rising 3, Plants VS Zombies: Garden Warfare, and Forza all work as they always have. Minecraft... which worked prior to this Dashboard Preview...
now sends me the same "Installation Stopped!" message when I attempt to play/download it, and kicks me to the update error screen. The Evil Within, which I pre-ordered, has never worked. I can't even download it without getting the update error page.

I've attempted all of the troubleshooting methods contained within the pages of this site, and even a few suggested by several customer support agents. No dice. The latest agent I talked with said that my account is registered for the Dashboard Preview beta,
but I don't see anything related to the "Private Forums" I'm supposed to have access to. They're not sure whether it's the disc drive error, or this issue with the dashboard preview beta, that is blocking my consoles ability to get system updates. The obvious
answer may be to just send it in for repairs... for a disc drive I never use, or have any intention of using, so I can play my digitally acquired games... but I figured I'd post about the issues... and see if anything comes up.
