Prepaid XBOX live card won't activate

we are trying to active our prepaid XBOX Live Gold card that we purchased at Walmart.

When we enter the reviled code on the back of the card an error message stating the card was not activated. I have called Walmart, they said to contact MictoSoft

All prepaid cards need to be activated by the retailer (in this case, Walmart) before they can be redeemed. If you have a receipt, a manager/supervisor at the retailer may be able to assist.

What happened possibly is an error that happened somewhere between Walmart and Microsoft. Usually gift cards when they are activated at the register they activated before they can be used. I would recommend going into the store with a receipt asking for
a manager or supervisor, they should be able to assist you better, if they are unable to help at store level ask who actives their cards it may be a company such as Blackhawk who is a major distributor for gift cards they may be able to help as well. If not
able to get any assistance from either party you can try contacting the Microsoft Xbox Billing department, which you can do from here Contact Us | Xbox Support They should be able
to help you figure it out.

If you haven't already, try going to the website for the prepaid card and making sure you have a billing address attached and that it is possible to use the card for online purchases. Some prepaid cards won't work on Xbox Live.

Here’s what the Xbox support website-
https://support.xbox.com/en-SG/billing/prepaid-codes/prepaid-code-errors states for the following error message:

This code wasn't activated by the retailer. Contact the store and have them activate the card

All codes must be activated at the point of sale in order to be used on Xbox Live. Sometimes there can be a delay at the retailer when activating. If you receive this error message, wait 24 hours and try again. If the card does not work 24 hours after purchase,
take the card back to the retailer along with your proof of purchase and ask them to activate it.

Prepaid XBOX live card won't activate
