You don't seem to understand how the codes work

No you cannot buy German euro codes with a Austrian euro currency card that's not how the website works

Even if your account region is German and you enter an Austrian code you get Austrian euro currency

That's the same with a French or Russian or UK or American codes

What is deposited is the currency of the actual card

You won't be able to see the German or purchase german content unless you add a German payment method like a German currency card or creditcard

That's the same with austrian

If you added a Austrian card it will go directly to your Austrian side of your account and won't be visible until you follow bijou instructions

Currency never follows your account region it is region specific it always has been since the original xbox days

You enter one code it's region is set for life and cannot be changed for the life of your account

They may exchange the code if you talk to support

But keep in mind it's a one time per year it's best to deal with the issue at the source the retailer

If you had entered a Austrian code it wouldn't have mattered if you enter Ed it on xbox.com/german website

If you however bought a digital code from ms store or Amazon and it was a German site yes you would get a German code since Austria doesn't have ms store and I donno about amazon but they usually will tell you what the currency of the card is

If you bought a Austrian card you would get Austrian currency regardless of xbox.com if you bought at ms store then yes I don't think they have a Austrian website for ms store

And yes ms store is seperate from xbox

You can't buy currency cards on xbox.com

When you purchase an Xbox gift card, make sure that the currency you use matches the currency associated with the recipient’s billing account. Otherwise, the recipient will be unable to redeem the gift card.

If you redeem an Xbox gift card in a country that doesn’t match the country associated with your billing account, you won’t be able to use those funds.

The funds in your Microsoft account can’t be transferred after you redeem your Xbox gift card.

That's from xbox official FAQ as you can see the currency cards are region specific

It doesn't matter where you redeem the code the currency doesn't change it only can be accessed if you match the region

Austria and Germany issues are completely different

The problem is that we speak German as well in Austria, thats why there is no "Austrian" site available...

trust me, or try it yourself if you don't believe me... I can use every Austrian code to my "German profile" which shouldn't even exist...

I never added "German" information or "German codes" to my profile. Never! And the money from my "Austrian code" in my "Austrian Profile" got transfered to a "German profile"

I only used a German Website, because the language in Austria is "German". An Austrian website doesn't exist!

and i talked to the support: they did not exchange the code, as i told you earlier. They were not very useful.

and "Austria" is not "Australia"

I have had similar problems with having an US region xbox and dollar credit card. I cannot buy older titles from the 360 for the xbox one. I wanted to buy BRAID from the arcade, but it prompted me to add euros since I live in Belgium. I bought a Belgian
card and tried to add euros to my account. It did not work. It prompted me to change my region and language just so I can add my 50 euros from a gift card purchases at a Belgian grocery store. It is unbelievable stupide. MS imposes Dutch or French on me
if I register with the Belgian code. (NO ENGLISH OPTIONS.) I speak some French, but half of the time they throw in Flemish just to mess with me. All of this just because their currency system cannot deal with multiple residences or expatriated users. I
have no desire to use a VPN, but the region locking and forced languages makes me questions my decision to never use a VPN service while living in Belgium.

I also do not understand why Euros from one EU country cannot be used within the EU. It is an oversimplication, but it almost as bad as saying sorry, your dollars from Florida cannot be applied to your account while you live in Wisconsin. (Granted states
and countries are not the same. . . but when it is a shared currency? Come on.)

I may just look into buying games on steam to have a simpler game purchase experience for titles that require Euros.

Most of the support agents I have ever needed to speak to have been very good, but there's always going to be one or two who aren't as good. Telling people to post on the forums for issues we cannot even solve is a pretty typical move for the bad ones to
get people off the phone, sadly - and it's a poor experience for you, who is told we can fix it when we cannot.

Honestly, even though you had a poor phone experience, I would try calling again, and hopefully you get someone more willing to help you, or at least explain exactly what has happened and what (if anything or nothing) can be done.

I'm sorry we can't be of more help here on the forums.

I did not buy an out of region code...

I bought an austrian code in Austria.... but the money was transferred to a german region because i was logged in at the german region (Xbox website) (which is standard in austrian browsers.... thats weird). But i was logged in with my normal Austrian account....

I really have don't understand why microsoft does this. Its really frustrating...
