Prepaid card won't work

My friend has bought me a 6 month prepaid gold membership card online and when i enter it ses it's a 6 month card and stuff then i hit confirm and then it says something went wrong please try again later with the error code of XBOS-5002 wich i entered in
the error codes section and that code doesn't exist i have tried everything still doesn't work please help and by the way my friend who bought the card is from America and im over here at Iraq.

Xboxlive prepaid card won't work.

I have tried multiple times to redeem my Xboxlive prepaid 12 month card and I get a different error code each time. This has been going on for 2 days. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Very frustrating.

Remeeming errors can be caused by issues on the account itself. Be sure to check if your billing information is correct at
http://billing.microsoft.com and also check
http://account.microsoft.com/services for any outstanding amount issues, these need to be sorted prior to being able to redeem codes.

After that try redeeming the code on both xbox console and via xbox.com/redeemcode

Also check that the Xbox Live account , the console and code all match region wise (sometimes language needs to match too), using different regions for any of them cause issues too.
