Pre-owned Xbox 360 possible console ban

I am thinking of buying a second hand xbox 360 for some casual gaming however I'm aware there is always the possibility that the console is banned and than bans will not be lifted even if the console has a new owner. I'm not all that interested in multiplayer
or similar but I can't really find any info on how restricted banned consoles are. Will I still be able to earn achievements on a banned console? If I sign into a banned console will the account I use be banned? Also is there any way to check in advance before
purchase if a specific console has been banned?

Pre-Owned 360 with Ban

I just bought a pre-owned Xbox 360 off gumtree and it has a console ban on it. Any help?

You cannot connect to live period on banned consoles so the only way you can use your profile is use a hd or a USB stick and sign in but it will always be off line with no ability to download content including new profiles or upload stats and when you resign
online you will lose.any achievements you earned while off line until you use a non banned console

Forgive the question but did you buy the console new or was it pre-owned?

If the latter then it is entirely possible that the previous owner did the things the console was banned for. Indeed it is common practice for the modders to sell their consoles on and put the money toward a new 'clean' console.

To use a Xbox 360 via a wireless network you'll have to get a wireless adapter that's designed specificaly for the console. You might be lucky to find a pre owned adapter somewhere that may still sell pre owned Xbox 360 consoles.

If it is a console ban, then there is nothing anybody can do. They will never un ban a console no matter if you purchased it pre owned.

Once a console is banned, it cannot be unbanned. You would need to return it to where it was purchased.
