Pre-Ordering Digital Games

When will we be able to start pre-ordering digital copies of games? Its available on PS4 well before games come out but still isnt a feature on the xbox one. On the same note, when pre-ordering becomes available will there be some implementation of pre-downloading
so on release day we dont have to wait forever for a game to download? Seems to me like microsoft REALLY wanted to push digital games but they have yet to make any effort at all to make it seem like a viable alternative to disc based games. We are still having
to pay full price for games (except Ryse, which is a joke imo) and wait hours for things to download before we can play.

No rewards for pre-ordering digital copies of games???

Why do you only get reward points for pre-ordering a physical copy of a game and not for pre-ordering a digital copy...? Doesn't seem right.

There has been no official news on digital pre-ordering of games, but it seems like it is getting closer. Microsoft has also noted that pre-downloading is in the works, but it is unknown if it will be able when pre-ordering becomes available.

The full price for games is a delicate balance, and isn't entirely on Microsoft. Publishers decide the price for digital games. If you could buy games digitally for a lower price, retailers would stop stocking those games, and potentially the consoles (I
think this happened to the PSP GO). PC games, for the most part, are no longer available through retail because of the digital ecosystem.

Also, paying full price for games that are barely three months old I wouldn't say is ridiculous. And I would say give Ryse a try! I heavily enjoyed my time with it.

 

Ugh, microsoft really needs to get their stuff together. Its laughable how slow they addressing the issues with their console. With digital youre paying the same price for less so the price should be dropped. I couldnt care less what most retailers carry
or if they stopped carrying games or consoles. As long as people want to play games people will buy what they want wherever it is for sale. Digital is going to happen one way or another so theres no point in avoiding it. Ryse is a weak games on every level
except looks. The only reason they chose it for the price drop is because id guess it was one of the weakest launch titles and they want more sales.

 

Maybe you couldn't care less, but millions of gamers do. Microsoft, as a business, is trying to make money. They won't purposely do something to get less money. They also have access to a large amount of data and can predict sale projections based on a number
of scenarios.

The internet infrastructure isn't there yet to fully support digital, and that's a big reason why people buy discs. Microsoft isn't avoiding going digital, as they have all the games available on the Xbox Store on release date.

Games are costing more money to make, and are cheaper than any other part in time. N64 games could cost $80+ based on the game, and that was back in the 90s! Game prices have stayed mostly static for the past decade or two.

It seems like you haven't played Ryse, so I wouldn't trash it unless you've tried it; it is a fun hack and slash action game. The biggest reason why games go on sale are to get more sales, so yes, that is probably a reason, but it did sell fairly well.

 

... But seriously, when will this be a thing?

I'm looking at picking up Thief and I'd rather get all my games digitally (100mbs fiber here) but I don't want to miss out on per-order bonuses, nor do I want to pay more than I have to.

If Microsoft is reading this it should really be a priority if you want to stay current, you're falling behind.

Also Ryse was pretty average, graphics were good but it's 100% linear with zero replay value. Even multilayer was pathetic and repetitive. Possibly the worst game I've played in many years.

You do get pre order bonuses if you buy digitally within like the first week its on sale.
