Can you preorder an upcoming game using ONLY xbox cash or gift cards without having a paypal, credit or debit on file with MS?

If so, then why can't you dl say, a free avator item without giving MS your paypal, credit/debit info?

 

Yes you can. Avatar items are still set up on the 360 store which is set up differently than the store on the One/website. The One/website have never been updated to recognized your Microsoft account balance which is why they require a credit card/Paypal on
file. You wouldn't need them if you make the purchase on a 360.

 

Good to know. Wonder if they'll ever get around to fixing it so that free avatar items etc wouldn't require a 360 nor payment method on file.

 

It would be nice. I still have my 360 but it's kind of annoying to have to turn it on just to purchase something every now and then instead of being able to use the website or something.
