  1. Practice what you preach?

I tend to play games handling situations as I feel like, not worrying about an overall good or bad theme.

Some characters I will never kill, some I'll always kill and I have nothing against killing animals either, though I'd never kill a cat.

  2. I always choose the good side.

Game endings are usually better (and official cannon) when you are good.

    Fallout 3, bioshock are examples.

Games are there to escape the real world, you are free to do as you please, play the good route or play the bad route, as it is an artistic escape of some sorts you are free to choose and not be bogged down by the morals of real life.

  4. Practice what you preach?

Tomb Raider as an example, there is a guy who you can kill or leave in pain. After he tried to off me, I had no problem kneeling down and just watching him suffer lol. That reflects what I would do in the real.

I was just remembering more times when I went crazy on innocent game lives. When I play GTA and I'm bored I drive on the sidewalk and try to hit as many people as possible. When the cops chase me I like to swerve a lot and make them hit people too. It's
also fun to run through a crowd just punching people.

I tried to do the sidewalk thing in LA Noire and I realized that game just sucks.

  7. In open world games with a big population like GTA or Saints Row I try my hardest not to mess with the civilians, I know people get off on that, but unless they start punching me first I'll try not to ruin their day.

    Practice what you preach?

I typically choose the good roles over bad ones (skyrim, bioshock, fable...).

I don't kill the animals unless forced to (mudcrabs <3 protect them all).

I do have a third character in Skyrim I'm purely using to get the vampire achievements and on him I will go wandering through cities and just kill anyone...mostly because I hate this achievement and want it over with already. After I get it, I will delete
    the character.

  9. Forgive me Father for I have...

hunted the buffalo in Red Dead Redemption to extinction because there was an achievement for it.

stomped many a chicken in Gears of War 3.

tried (yes tried, thank you Mr. Levine for not having the courage of your convictions to actually let me go through with it) to throw a ball at an interracial couple in Bioshock Infinite.

Dropped a phospherous bomb (? i think) on a crowd of soldiers instead of killing them 1 by 1 in Spec Ops.

    ad nauseum.......

And thats not counting all the things various games have made me do. The question as far as video games are concerned may not be do you practice what you preach, but can you practice
anything you preach? Morality in video games is null and void anyway as both player choice can be counterfeited to conform to the games true narrative and once you add restarts and checkpoints making undoing any choice youve already made possible,
there are zero consequences anyway. IMO as always.

I like this topic. For me, I actually go against my style in games on almost every aspect, not just moral decisions... my philosophy is that games are there to do what you can't in real life, not to live out immoral wishes, but rather to feel less monotonous
and mix up from what you yourself would do.

For instance, in shooters, I love games that allow you to do stunts, run fast while shooting, use non-realistic weapons, jump with rockets, etc. because it's fun to play shooters that aren't realistic but rather based on defying physical reality of those
types of combat situations. Military shooters like CoD and BF bore my because running, stopping, crouching, aiming down a sight and firing short bursts feels too much like what one *would have to do* in real life.

Moral decisions, if it were me in that actual situation, I would probably lean more toward good but mostly be neutral in places like Fallout and Mass Effect. I wouldn't be a rule-breaker, manipulator, thief or murderer, but probably wouldn't go to the lengths
that you have to in some of the "good" decisions (i.e. extreme lengths like lowering rent/prices on your properties in Fable so low you lose money, etc). However, in games I go against that. I liked being renegade in Mass Effect, loved being dark side in
KOTOR, and much preferred the chain of events that usually spurred from being evil karma in Fallout. It really makes the story feel less.... expected. That being said, in Fallout I won't go and massacre everyone in Rivet City or risk getting caught stealing/pickpocketing
because I may want to go back without getting shot. However, anytime I went good in those games it made the story less enjoyable to me.

Heck, even in fighting games, I play characters way different to my own style. I play Street Fighter, using a big bulky sumo wrestler and towering Native American grappler, both not the type of fighting styles I would adopt IRL (I would be more a Kung Fu
type like Gen or Chun Li), but those are the types of characters I get more satisfaction out of playing.

I think for me it's less a matter of playing what type of behavior or setting is "familiar" and using the opportunity of gaming to explore areas outside of that, as long as it creates an enjoyable gaming experience.

I would say it's normal to impose their real life morals into their video games. I usually try both paths in a game, but prefer being a good guy.

There's nothing I wouldn't do in a video game for it is just a game. Apparently a few people had problems with doing the torture scene in GTA V, I personally thought it wasn't too shabby.

Good 60% Bad 40%. Depends on the game and my stress level. And how good I am at controlling the game. I know I generally run over a lot people on games with driving until I get the hang of it.

  13. Practice what you preach?

I rarely ever kill an animal in Minecraft.Theyre too cute.If I see a sheep or Zombie pigman spawned on a ledge with nowhere to go I will try to build a staircase for them to get down because I feel bad for them.If a skeleton is outside when the sun comes
up I will try to save them by building shade or placing water for them to swim in.

  15. My characters are not only created in my likeness - semi-attractive, voluptuous with long, raven black hair, but also very kindhearted, caring and moral - just as I am. : D
