  1. Practice what you preach?

If I play a game that has the option to needlessly kill a wild animal I never use that option.

Is it normal for gamers to self impose their real life morals to their video games?

Do you have any similar examples of things you wouldn't do in a video game?

Keep it clean and within the forum rules.

    What say you?

    :)

  2. You guys dont practice what you preach to us.

Thanks for your advice. But, I know about the rep system and how it works. I know how to block and report team killers and bad players on live. I have been a member for the last 13 years. I have followed all of the steps that you say follow. After all these
years on live following all of the steps you say to follow. I still see nothing done about the racism on live and the team killing cheating, etc... The players that do these things on there just start another account and start doing it all over again. I even
hear them brag about that's what they will do. But, players good friendly players like my self get spammed by them to ruin my rep. so I cant connect to other players and have no way of complaining about it.

  3. You guys dont practice what you preach to us.

My gamertag is currently in avoid status. Through no fault of my own. The code of conduct team lets little racist kids on live have more power than them. I have had little racist white kids on there tell me that they would spam my
reputation on my live account and I would not be able to play with anyone. That's exactly what they did. You enforcement guys system is crap. My account shows that it's in good standing on your website. But it shows avoid on my console. I have no way to appeal
my case. And this is what you have the nerve to have as advertisement on your site. (see below) The amount of racism against African American gamers on Live is not policed at all. It's ridiculous. I have been playing on live for 12 years. Since its beginnings.
I believe it's ridiculous that the code of conduct team doesn't have contact info and doesn't communicate with other depts. of xbox live too. You have no way to defend yourself or explain yourself to anyone. I think I am at wits end and I am thinking about
    Switching to Sony or Nintendo.

    Practice what you preach?

Senseless killing in a video game is wrong. Especially in Skyrim.... kill a chicken and look out!

    -

After awhile it does feel pointless to kill irrelevant pieces of a game. Animals, people, robots...etc.

  5. i tend to go the good route in games with moral choices, but if i can get away with it and i wont of a faction i'm friendly with, i'll kill and steal all day every day until i get bored with it...because it's a game and i can separate my personal moral compass
from what's fun in said game.

[profanity removed - yes the filter catches it but please don't post it, thanks]

I usually end up playing the "good" path in games. Like in the Mass Effect series I've never played a single one of the games as renegade. Normally if it doesn't aggro me I don't bother trying to kill it. I was playing Watch Dogs for a few hours today and
seeing guards that show up with stuff like "In line for a promotion today" "Annual Blood Donator" "Just adopted a kitten" it leaves me like :l .

Just curious if you play only games that feature non combat situations Wilko? Have you ever killed a persin in a video game? I have but wouldn't dare do so in real life. You can't pick and choose what real life rules to follow in a video game if you wont
    follow them all.

  11. Like a few people here, I always play the good path in games.

@24, I don't understand your post, but it's my life and I can pick and choose what morals to apply in games I play, and to be entirely honest I would have absolutely no qualms about killing a person in real life if the situation warranted it, so I can kill
people in video games without sacrificing my morals. ;-)

I am a mass murdering suicidal kleptomaniac with a severe hoarding issue. In-game. I will go on a killing rampage just to see how long I can last. (Oblivion/Saints Row 3 ) I will steal stuff just because I can, whether it's useful or not. Dragon's Dogma,
when you get to run around invisible in the starter town? I threw people into the sea so the brine could eat them. If there's no carry limit, I never discard anything, but I might sell a few things. Then murder the shop keep and take it all back. I love finding
interesting ways to die in a game too.

Tater, you have basically said what I feel some people will not admit

I myself, in games like fallout, gta5, or skyrim, I always choose the good way.

I never shoot anyone unless they shoot at me first. in fallout, I would kill rad roaches all the time, simply because I can not stand roaches. in gta, I would only kill dear by accident, but in far cry 3, I would kill any animal who tried to kill me.

I am more of an explorer/survivalist. And I would rather get the perks that you get for being good, other than the ones that you get as an evil character. even though they might look better to have, I personally, never go that route. it just doesn't feel
    right.

I am a heavy looter though. I wont steal if the game is recognizing what im taking as stealing, but whatever I can take without being look at as a thief, I will take. in fallout, I am RICH just for spending half my time picking up trash in a kitchen and
selling it to the cashier, or going out in the wasteland and picking up a bunch of stuff, give some to my giant orange guy to hold, and just sell it all in rivet city.

I usually play good guys but I have no problem going bad. I also have no problem murdering all kinds of innocent wildlife in game, in real life I wouldn't hurt any. It's a game it's not meant to matter. Go kick some chickens and have fun.
