    My Xbox has been off for months, too much work! I went to turn on my console and there is no activity on my tv screen. I figured it may be doing updates but this has gone on for a few days. Not sure what to do next. All the cables are in place. Hope someone
    can help?

    Thanks. I'm playing on Xbox one. TV not detecting a signal from the Xbox. The option you suggested resolved my issue. Thank you.

    Is the Xbox logo on the front lit up when you trying to play?

    If so, do a hard reset/power cycle by pressing and holding the Xbox logo on the front of the console until it switches off, waiting atleast 30 seconds before switching it on again.
