Power surge through phone/internet line | Console won't power up.

Just today, there was an extreme thunderstorm that I believe hit my phone/internet line and roasted my modem, which fried xbox 360 (original version), and then my tv (yes, I was using the xbox at the time Power surge through phone/internet line | Console won't power up. :p ). Basically, I've been scouring the internet
looking for fixes; unfortunately, there's nothing out there that has to do with power surges through the ethernet port, I've unplugged my power supply and everything else from my console and the wall, then let the supply cool for about an hour (It still has
the red light). I don't have another power supply, so I didn't try using a different one, but I'm pretty sure all the damage is internal. So what I came here looking for, is possible things that would happen if a surge went through the ethernet port, and how
    I would fix it?

    :)

Xbox one console making clicking noise AND now games are running slowly (offline)

    plug directly into wall NOT through power strip or power surge protector. The power supply is a power surge protector and will cause overheating and such if not plugged into wall directly. Also, make sure properly ventilated on flat horizontal surface;
both the console and power supply have internal fans.

    My Xbox it´s burn!!

The console has provisions to protect against a power surge, but if you have it plugged into a power strip that also has a surge protector, then it can get fried as they sort of negate each other. That's what I've read or something along those lines.

You wont be able to fix it yourself if its shorted out.Your only option would be to send it in for repair however microsoft doesnt repair the original xbox 360s (fat ones) anymore.

So your only real option would be to either get one of the xbox 360 wireless adapters (the wireless n adapters for the original 360s go for around 40 bucks on ebay these days) or buy a new xbox 360

Yet another weird X Box One X issue.

    Hey danryder,

I believe the Xbox won't turn on with the way you plug in the hard drive first is because the Xbox's internal power supply is receiving voltage through your external hard drive since it's powered not by the console but the power outlet. This sudden voltage
may caused the fuse in the internal surge protector to block the voltage that comes through when you plug your Xbox into the wall. I think when doing that, a power surge is being replicated and the Xbox won't turn on to "protect" itself from the sudden surge
of power. You will then need to reset the power supply usually to get it to turn on or remove the source of the power surge.

You may not need to get a replacement again if you just plug in your Xbox to the power first and then your external hard drive.

If you determine you do need a replacement, unfortunately the Gameshare option would not be possible if you would be at the limit of Home Console switches and need to contact
    Xbox Support
    for further information on that.

I really need a xbox one x owners answer.

    GavinHawkins12,

Having your console (or anything, for that matter) plugged directly into the wall is a surefire way to fry it when the power surges. There doesn't even have to be an outage of some kind, small power cycles that flicker the lights are enough. I recommend
ALWAYS having your devices connected to a surge protector.

In more positive news, your phone shouldn't be effected in the same way. If the Xbox is hit, the power stops there. Anything connected to it should be alright. When the phone is plugged into the wall, the power adapter (small box you plug the USB into) will
fry and keep the phone safe. If you have an outlet with USBs going directly to the circuit breaker then you can damage the phone, but that's about it. I'm not sure what the warranty is for power surges on X1X's, but if they're saying the HDD failed then it
    probably wasn't a power surge.
