    Hello LethalSniper007

This is why some people don't suggest power bars or surge bars for your Xbox One.

If all the outlets are used at once, or another power/surge bar is plugged in for more outlets you can overload the amount the original wall outlet can produce, this will most likely cause a circuit breaker to trip.

Also as more electric current is taken from the bars the voltage will go lower and could cause a voltage drop or a brown out condition.

If you have it plugged into a bar that already has several things attached to it keep in mind that the Xbox One could receive lower voltage and can cause a reduced performance and can result in

    • games and apps crashing to to the dashboard
    • Not being able to open more then one app at a time
    • Error Messages
    • Online performance issues like Lag or higher Ping spikes.
    • Xbox shutdown without notice

  3. Hi, Mesowhite1,

Electrical current doesn't quite work like that I'm afraid, voltage is consistent across all devices, and comes as it does from the source. 110V in most places, 240V in others. What you can get though is "dirty" electricity either through interference or
running too many devices from a single outlet. This can be especially true if you have something that draws a lot of power on the same "ring" in your house. Say a washing machine, kettle or microwave. Or if you're using some power tools.

The Xboxes PSU will clean up all of this as best it can, but relatively low power devices like TV's rarely affect anything like that.

Say for example, you have a double wall outlet. If you plugged the Xbox in on it's own, then used a power strip to plug everything else into, it would make no difference since it would all be connected on the same ring, i.e the same wires coming from your
breaker/fuse box. If you looked in my living room/office you'd see I have a PC, Printer, 3 monitors, 2 Xbox Ones, an Xbox 360, Cable box, TV, 4 external HDD's, Sound bar, NAS, router, modem, Thrustmaster TX wheel, 2 laptops, 3 lamps, 2 pairs wireless headphones,
telephone, 6 port USB charger, Ethernet switch, desk fan, X Rocker Chair, and a couple of other things no doubt, all pretty much running off of daisy chained power strips. Even with everything fully turned on and running I have no issues. Though I live within
spitting distance of a Naval Base so I'm pretty confident I have a pretty clean power supply. Had I still been living in the sticks, as I did when I was younger, I probably would.nt be so confident that all would work well.

Anyway. I'm not trying to be a ***, I just spent several years studying electrical engineering.

    Power supply ?

Thank you for your input I was just trying to quote this on the Power Supply.

"Don't overload your wall outlet, extension cord, power strip, or other electrical receptacle. Confirm that these items are rated to handle the total current that’s drawn by your console (as indicated on the PSU), and by any other devices that are on the
    same circuit."

This is the exact quote on About the Xbox One power supply. That is what I was trying help them understand.

  5. So then its okay to plug xboxone to a powerbar. I have my TV , cable box, modem, router, and the Xbox. I still don't see how it can cause lag when playing online when pluged in a powerbar

There are Capacitors inside which store some electricity. That why when you unplug it the orange light stays on its completely normal for that. My Xbox does that as well if i unplug it. It's just left over electricity draining. So it's nothing to worry about.

It should be if you plug it in, the items you list sound perfectly okay with another a Xbox One added. I don't believe it can cause lag I saw a lot of questions about that. I added it in my post About the Xbox One power supply because I believed it could
effect online performance if the console was not correctly powered.

    Power supply ?

After you hook it up run a Xbox speed test Run the Xbox speed test

Press the Menu button on the Xbox One controller

(If you already have the New Dashboard you will have to tap left two time on the left thumb stick it should show a menu with icons go to the one that is a gear near the bottom of the list select it the select All Settings)

    Select Settings.

    Select Network.

    Select Detailed Network Statistics.

The results should appear in a few moments.

And if they look normal then you should be good to go.

  9. If you're getting lag playing online, do a network test by going to Settings>Network Settings>Detailed Network Statistics and see what you're ping is. If you're in the US it should be somewhere between 30-80 ms, in the UK it's usually around 100-160 ms.
Things like using WiFi will increase your latency, using a cellular connection will also give latency a big bump. If you can, use your console via Ethernet. Also, on your computer, do a speed test at
Speedtest by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test and see what ping you get there. hopefully it should be somewhere between 10 and 50 ms. depending on where your closest server is. If it's way above 50, try resetting your networking equipment.
If that doesn't reduce it, contact your ISP and make sure there isn't any issues with your line.

Im sorry to say but it sounds like the PSU has died this could be for many reasons... Overheating, Power Surge etc

Are you still under warranty? If so call up MS and they should be able to either send you a new one or some how fix the problem.

If not ebay would be your best next thing.

    power supply

    Hey there mate!

If your power supply has a flashing orange light, it may need to be replaced. Try the following solutions:

1.Try plugging your console’s power supply into a different electrical outlet. Do not use a surge protector.

2.If the power supply light is solid red or flashing orange, unplug the power supply and let it cool for 30 minutes. Then, plug the power supply back into the outlet.

If your power supply light is still flashing orange, solid red, or unlit, your power supply needs to be replaced. You can Order a replacement Xbox 360 power supply from our Xbox Online Service Center. Console registration is required to replace the power
supply under warranty (the power supply warranty is the same as your console warranty).
